SPAD S.VII Special Hobby//1:48// Italian Aces - part 4

Hello,

After NI-11/17 and Ansaldo Balilla it's time for SPAD 7:)
In order to improve the outcome I have decide to purchase Part PE dedicated to that item. Unfortunately I made the mistake and had not dug into the net to find some info regarding Part PE application with SH SPAD 7 in 1:48. Most significant parts are overestimated in size, which made all assembly little harder. In 32 it looks better!
I have started with frame which was too big or thick for application. So got rid of some layers of plastic from fuselage halves and cut little bit the frame


it worked out

Terrific start!! I admire anyone who can bend and install those Part PE frames without totally mutilating them and the bracing wires  8)

For info the cockpit opening shouldn't be symetric.

I absolutely agree with RAGIIIs opinion. You are managing those PART PE parts perfectly. I'll follow this post closely, I always wanted to see how this Special Hobby SPAD will turn out using the PART PE. :)

Excellent start, K!  I'm looking forward to following this build since I'm using the Part PE set on my Sopwith Strutter.

This is going to be a great build to follow.  I have the 1/32 Roden version
of the SPAD and want to try and use the Part PE set.  Yours will be a
terrific example to follow, K.  Lead on, my friend!

Hi Krzysiek! SPAD VII you say, maybe after finishing my Deperdussin I will start mine. What is better motivation than watching your thread here! Should you need decals for the Polish markings I can send them to you;)
The frame looks great, it's always  a shame to hide inside the cockpit isn't it?
What painting scheme do you intend to use?

Thanks Filip! Indeed almost nothing will be visible after assembly. I am going to perform Italian marking of Fulco Ruffo di Calabria and do have the question to you guys.
Does anybody know if or what kind of radiator shutters/blind was applied on Italian SPAD's?

Next I will use some kit resin part to fill the cockpit as create all from PE is too risky and might have been time consuming


I have added all little stuff from PE part which was quite exhaustive and finally figured out that almost nothing will be visible out of this tedious work.
