Small Stuff 1/72 Clerget 9B/Z engine

For the One True Scale modellers among us, check this out from Eugeny Knupfer of Small Stuff:

Yes it really is tiny, that is an ordinary scalpel blade.

There are two different crankcases included, separate cylinders, two sets of push rods and valve gear for each piston, two spark plugs (yes separate spark plugs even in 1/72 scale) and separate intake manifolds.

The fine details are truly extraordinary for this scale. Perfectly cast, very little flash to clean up. Instructions are very clear and parts are numbered.

Only one minor niggle, the instructions do not make it clear which crankcase is for which engine. This snip from a Wingnut Wings Sopwith Pup instruction manual makes it clear:

A list of aircraft for which this engine is suitable are noted: Avro 504K, Bristol M1, Hanriot HD-1, Nieuport 12, Nieuport 17bis, Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter, Sopwith Baby, Sopwith Camel and Sopwith Triplane.

A warning about the dangers of resin dust is included: use a respirator or wet sandpaper.

An 'applicator' is included for fitting the wee spark plugs, using a tiny drop of water on the tip.

The kit comes packed neatly in separate sealed bags and the sprue sections are protected from damage by 'bookcase ends'. Then bubble wrapped, inside a cardboard box, so arrived in excellent condition.

I purchased directly from Small Stuff via their website: http://www.smallstuffmodels.com/

Cost $10 USD for each of their 1/72 engines, postage was $5 USD.

Overall I am very favourably impressed and would deal with them again. Will post some more photos once it is assembled.

I hope 1/72 scale stays alive through this period of dominance by 1/32 models, this kind of after-market accessory will certainly help

Thanks for looking in, James
