Bloody April Slaughter In The Skies Over Arras 1917 by Peter Hart ISBN 0-297-84621-3 Published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 2005.

I picked this book up, second hand, a couple of weeks ago and is one of the few books I have read on the subject of the war in the air of WW1 that doesn't simply concentrate on the aircraft or the aces.

It puts the whole thing into perspective of the campaign and war on the ground of Arras, Vimy Ridge and the German withdrawal to the Hindenberg line. There are lots of quotes from diaries, memoirs and tape recordings of the men who were there and the whole lot is pulled togther by the author to make it very readable.

I am reading Somme Success now. I have his other 2 books, Bloody April and Aces Falling which are next to be read, maybe. I have a stack of other books to read as well.
