My efforts

Having read this thread http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=6445.0 I realized that I have rarely put any of my models on here. This is because they are fairly rough compared to the work that is displayed here normally, but that is exactly what the thread is about. So, to start your day off with a chuckle here are most of my builds, (there are two up in the loft, but they're never coming back down. )

And a couple of more recent builds. I got the colour a bit wrong on the Roland, the decals disappeared from view when I put them on the fuselage, having had some tips on here I will have another go at this some time.





Sadly the varnish went a bit odd on this, I almost binned it at one point because the whole of the top wing was covered in a horrible white film, I repainted the wing but the decals still look pretty horrible.

You have a wonderful collection of models Ken and nothing at all to be ashamed of. The build and painting on these models is very well done, I'm glad that you decided to display your models here.

Very nice collection, Ken! I'm glad you were inspired by Jörg's post to share your work with us. I'm sure you'll find that this is a friendly group of modelers with all variety of skill levels.

I think most of us are just interested in sharing our work, asking questions to further our skills, and enjoying and learning from the work of others. I know my skill set has gone way past what I thought was possible before I joined. I would highly recommend doing a build log next. The feedback and encouragement you'll receive will take your modeling to new places.

What a great model collection you've built my friend. I so glad you decided to go ahead and post them here. As you've seen here at this awesome forum our members run from Master Level modelers to newbies.Always remember that at some point in time even the Master Level modelers were newbies too.I believe you'll also see that the majority of us are somewhere in between the two levels of skill. No one need be concerned that their builds aren't good enough to be posted here at all. We're all here on this forum learn from each others projects and to share our own projects and above all enjoy our beloved shared hobby.

Again thank you for sharing and I hope we'll be seeing much more projects from your bench. As Stephen suggested please do post a build thread here .

There is some very nice stuff there, Sir.

I like the Albatri in particular. Even the Nieuport that seems to have had an unfortunate encounter is well finished.

When you speak of varnish going off, I presume you mean a matte clear? These can leave a frosty effect if too thick, or thickly applied. I sweat each time I apply one. Did you paint over the color again, and leave the decals? I av had some luck fixing 'matte frost' by applying a thin gloss coat (more specifically, Future, the magic floor covering turned modeller's aid), and also with a bi of a rub down with a polishing pad (3000 grit, from an auto supply store).

I will often go over decals with various washes, to get them less stark. Black decals particularly will benefit from being gone over with a dark grey wash, and rubbed down a bit with the pad.
