Where do most of you guy's shop online and this goes out there to the ones who model other subjects as well .

Been looking at a few sites and order a kit from Squadron which I say will never happen again . They mail my package to the wrong address and their shipping charges are way out their on another planet . Thought about Hannants , but their is a lot of bad reviews about this company . Eduard is on my list , but never heard of anyone making purchase from their web site .

Hi Terri,

As for me, I am all over the place.....

Hobby Linc.... http://www.hobbylinc.com
Sprue Bros.... http://www.spruebrothers.com
Hobby Link Japan.... http://hlj.com

and lately a lot of stuff from the Leopard Club.... http://leopardclub.ca However, I don't think they will be of much use to you... unless you are going to build a Leopard tank. I am in the middle of a Canadian Leopard C2 at the moment using their after market stuff.

I also use Squadron on occasion. However, being south of the border they don't seem to screw up the orders.

Hope you find a place that treats you the way you should be.

Because of the currency exchange rate and the ridiculous price of postage I do most of my shopping within Australia. BNA Model World has a great reputation for being very fair with their prices and good with their postage.

Hi Terry,
The last (and it shall remain so!) time I ordered from Squadron was a true "Gong Show"! It started with a call (some two weeks after I placed the on-line order) to advise me that "we can't ship to a PO Box"! Got that sorted out, box arrives finally at my Wife's Business Address some weeks later and I accept it, no customs nor duty fees.......Bonus! But wait, there's more as the TV commercial goes......I get a bill for over $40 from a "Broker" who got the package thru Customs I was told, and I either paid it now or collection action through Canadian Border Services would be initiated. That more then doubled the cost of my order!
I've used Hannants and Sprue Bros. as well as Hobbylink Japan, and most if not all of our "registered" businesses here on the Forum and am really pleased with the service across the board.
Cheers,
Lance

Hey, T!  My favorite place, other than the obvious specialists, is Scale Hobbyist https://www.scalehobbyist.com/index.php .  Their prices are the lowest I've found and their shipping rates are reasonable.  I also use Sprue Bros for Humbrol paints and the occasional special sale item, Jadar for things only they sell,  Hannants for resin kits.  There are others, but Scale Hobbyist is my primary source.
Cheers,
Bud

Hi Terri!
Squadron, well let's just say it's not the company I first did business with back in '73.  ;)  (Or as Meat Loaf sings: The future just ain't what it used to be.)

I've had great service out of Sprue Brothers, like wise with HLJ. Ordering from Eduard: the only way to make that work is to order enough (over $100?) to get the free shipping.  I've ordered from Hannants with no problems. Aeroclub is gone.  :'(  Rosemont is gone.  :'(

A seller on evil-bay, RebelAlpha, is now my go-to source for decals. Starfighter decals is great, and he has great conversion sets for those old Monogram 'Tweeners in 1/72nd. He also orders in from Airfix. A friend of mine found a hobby shop in the UK that has great service and very reasonable postage, but I'll have to go check for the name.

FWIW, HTH, YMMV,

Warren

Hiya Terri.

Hannants werent the best years ago but have dramatically improved over the past five years I've had nothing but excellent service. Of course I'm UK based so that negates any international complications but their stock is live.    :D

I Used Squadron  once when they were selling the 1/32 Encore Albie II and Fokker DRI off for $19.)) by I'd paid duty and shipping I tried to pretend (For SWMBO)'s benefit I'd had a good deal.. They took an eternity to arrive as well >:(

Warren, no it ain't. The website is gone, but John Adams is still developing stuff, and sells through Britmodeller. You'd need to PM him there to see if he still has what you want, but it's only his own brand items he deals in. He was at ScaleModelworld in Telford last weekend, with the latest version of his biplane jig.

Terri, Hannants postage to outside the UK can be very expensive, but above a certain limit it used to be post free. I don't know if that is still the case. If you make an account and log in and make up an order, you can see the estimated postage before committing to order.   I've ordered from them over a 15 year period, 12 of which I was living in the Netherlands, and never had any trouble. Now I'm in the UK again and still a happy customer. I think they had a bad rep because they used to be fairly intolerant of people not reading the rules on their website, and reportedly one or two individuals on the telephone where rather challenged in the personal relation skills department. Not heard any complaints recently though. The other complaint was always pricing. Can be true, depends on what it is. Some things are cheap, some expensive, and many older things are heavily discounted (there's a special offers section to the search engine on the website).

HTH.   Paul.

Terri,

I regularly buy stuff and can reccomend the following shops:

Regular and well known shops within our WW1 community, you probably knwo about them but anyway:

Nordlandmodels - a bit expensive shipping, but can buy many things from just one place instead of few shops
Jadarmodel - there are some things (like PART photoetch) that you can buy just from them and noone else, but I prefer to go there personally once or twice a year and get everything I'm going to need.
Gaspatch models - I buy their products directly from them, never had any issues
Aviattic - pure awesomeness

Other shops:

hobbyeasy - I strongly reccomend this Hong Kong based shop with probably the lowest prices I have ever seen. They have a lot of stuff for scratchbuilding and the "regular" modelling topics especially cars, not that much WW1. I have used them 4-5 times already, the shipping is normal to cheap, the item prices ar elike 50% of the prices at the UK shops and never had issues with them so far.
Hobbylink Japan - a japanese shop full with some items that can't be found that easily on the EU market, expensive shipping. never had issues with them.
Hobbycult - my local shop (ships worldwide thou), they regularly make preorders on all kind of brands and the prices are absolute blast. Never had issues with them and I can strongly reccomend them.
Hiroboy - a UK based shop specialized on car and bike kits. Very expensive with very expensive shipping, but if you are going to build a car model and want to buy all the possible aftermarket and scratcbuild additions to it, together with a color matched paint specific for the car you are buidling, then this is your place.

I hope this helps :)

best regards,
Sasho

Hi Terri

Since I live in the US I don't order from "overseas" companies other than WingNutWings.

I've had great luck with Sprue Brothers and if they have what you're looking for, Amazon is pretty good.

Echo that, Terri...Scalehobbyist has a serious selection of all scales...you're a 1/48'er, right? Well, they have, like 50-60 1/48 WWI kits and, yeah, all discounted...many 1/32's, massive selection of paints...all manner of material...I swear by them...and I've had very good customer service...effusive enough? Check 'em out. Enjoy.

Terri I do a lot on EBay and have  a small cadre of known sellers where I buy most of my models. Also I like to go right to the source for some things like Taurus and Gaspatch AM. Also a good seller who has some WWI AM in Canada is Ultracast at http://www.ultracast.ca/
They are fast and reasonably priced. For glue ect I go to The Last Cavalry at http://shop.lastcavalry.com/ and find Dave a great help.
Hope that is of some use.

I have recently been using the Hobbylinc.com people, and so far have been very pleased.

I have only done a couple of orders at Hannants; things went fine, but they have a minimu for shipping to the States.

Others have mentioned 'rebelalpha' on E-bay, and I concur: reliable and with a good stock of stuff.

For limited run Czech and similar stuff, as well as tools, UMM-USA is good.
