Eduard Profipack Junkers J-1 in 48 hours (plus one week ;-)
« on: November 09, 2015, 10:23:36 AM »
This was a really nice kit.  The only stumbling block was not using a jig for the wing at first...hence not finishing it for the 48 hour challenge!  But once that was done, it fell together.  All the struts were made from scratch since my wing placement was based on some 3 views and not the kit struts!  ;)  My biggest boo-boo was putting the "Junkers" and serial number front-to-back on the right hand side...oh, well  ::)

I also tried to make the corrugations stand out but was only partly successful.  Still, a nice finish and I really like this machine.  I have another of these kits (non-profi-pack...which isn't necessary) and now that I know what to do (fixing the top wing surface and use a jig), it would be cool to build it with a different scheme, markings, exhaust etc. :-)

Here are some shots of her done:

Now I need to finish that darn AEG vac before moving on to a new project!

Thanks for looking and this was a very worth while project...especially when you think it got the better of you the first time around!

Dan

This turned out to be a really nice looking model Dan, well done even if it did take an extra week.

Hello, Dan -

Not one of my favourite WW1 aircraft but you have done a great job on this one!

I shudder at the thought of trying to build that in 48hours….. even if they were modelling hours! Not surprising that those struts caused you a headache - they give me one just looking at them!!

That is a first class model as usual - wonderful finish and superb detail - just as we expect from your bench. Many congratulations.

Last time I spent less than one month on a single build was some 20 years ago... Two months are my recent regular rate.
I would not even try to start such a challenge. And no way to complete it to such splendid result. That is one great "removal van"! Congratulations.

She's absolutely stunning in a brutishly fugly sort of way, Dan!  Your paint work and weathering are superb, especially considering the time from start to finish.  Truly remarkable.
Cheers,
Bud

I just realized that although I watched your build and commented there, I have failed to congratulate you on the Beautifully finished Model! Outstanding results and done in "Squiffy" Time  ::)

I have to admit that this isn't one of my favorite planes, but you've done a fantastic job, and in such a short time! You've created quite an attractive model, Dan!

Well done, Dan. Youve done a fine job, although Junkers would never win beauty contests!

Best wishes
