Jay Leno's Fiat Botafogo Special

I found this interesting video about Jay Leno's Fiat Botafogo Special. It uses a six cylinder engine that was originally used in a WW1 Fiat airplane. Maybe one of you can identify this airplane that is shown in the video. It's a very cool video to watch, enjoy!

thanks for the scoop. jay leno is an interesting guy. never liked his stand up or tonight show hosting. but years back i found out about his cars and steam engines etc. he has quite the collection.

Yes it is. I just did a google search on the Caproni Ca.5 and the same photo showed up on the Wiki page.

Leno called it a Fiat airplane in his video, but what does he know about WW1 aircraft? :o

It is the same engine as in the Fiat Mefistofele racing car, a Fiat A.12 bis. The one on the Mefistofele had two additional spark plugs fitted to each cylinder, two additional magnetos and  the carbs replaced, which increased the horsepower from 300 to 320hp. I am building a 1/12 scale model of Mefistofele currently

yeah cuz fiat didnt make planes until late 20s or so.
