Larry,

Great builds. I especially like the first one, Jasta 71 machine, you really aced the finish on that one! What technique did you use for the woodgrain? Decals or paints/oils?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi all,
Albatros D.V, Serial No: D.2006/17 as flown by Ltn.der.Reserve Bernhard Kilian of Jasta 21b during September 1917.
As usual my web site has a fully detailed PDF build log, which can be downloaded from the 'Logs' page (click signature link below).

My third and final for the Dave Wilson Group Build. It was an honor.

Build log here:   https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=14662.0

This really is pretty much out-of-box. I changed the cockpit combing, wire gun barrels, rescribed the rudder, E-Z line rigging and aftermarket decals.

Aurora did the best they could with what they had at the time. Although I didn't think of it during this build, I bet if you put this plastic up against an enlarged Profile Publication plan view it will match perfectly. A wildly distracting paint scheme plus certain lenses and certain angles completely eliminate the visual issues with the third trimester fuselage.

It's been a pleasure to be able to participate in this homage to someone who contributed so much to this forum.

Tail winds and blue skies Dave. Godspeed.

Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

Magnificent Albatros, Allan. I still can't get my head around the fact that it's the Aurora kit. You've delivered a stellar replica with this one!

If my results with this kit back in the sixties had been anything like this, I'd have a totally different outlook. Definitely a silk purse out of a sow's ear!
