Lance it is a combination of dry-brushing the mauve and green areas with white added to lighten the shade and also a little use of pastels in similar shades .... Pastel chalks are the cats meow and once you get the hang of them you can do amazing things with them...... but when you spray your final clear coat, just remember that it will alter your shading ..... so you usually must go a little heavier with pastels so it doesn't completely disappear ..... Hello Lance, No need to mask..... but make sure when dry brushing with paint to remove most of the paint from the brush on an old T-shirt ...... this way you will only accent the highest detail on the ribs. Also use an old brush as dry-brushing will ruin a new one .... Ken
