D.Va The Bavarians
« on: April 19, 2012, 04:29:24 AM »
Greetings all,
Well this is my first effort in WWI kit modeling. It's the WNW D.Va using the WNW decals 30016, the Bavarians, Walter Boning. (Anyone out there know how to insert an umlaut over the o?) Anyway, kit is pretty stock, I added a few PE details from Eduards set for the Roden D.III. I've been working at it on and off for several months now. Definitely not the most prolific builder!

Looks excellent Frank, and not too far from finishing?  I have this kit and the same decal set in my stash, and this is the same option for me too.  I look forward to seeing more.

  Frank,
Wow impressive first WWI project my friend. Far better than my first effort without a doubt, but then again I was only five.Little Gregory's was absolutely covered in little gluey fingerprints. I've improved slightly since then.

Beautiful start, Frank.  This is one of my favorite schemes and you're doing an outstanding job on it.
Cheers,

Boy, oh boy, nothing like jumping in at the deep end with a difficult scheme on your first WWI model, great decalling, great build so far.

Cheers

Pete.

Exactly! What series of keystokes are used?

Little Gregory's was absolutely covered in little gluey fingerprints. I've improved slightly since then.

My very first kit at eight had much the same result! Some 4 decades have passed since and there are less fingerprints now!

Thanks for the encouragement from everyone else. I've made more progress and will post further pics. As far as the decaling, what I have managed to do is hide all the mistakes! One of the nice additions to this decal sheet are a patch of blue and some additional diamond shapes to fix the ragged spots.

There are a whole lot of symbols and special characters that can be keyed in using Alt codes. For example hold down the Alt key and then type 0169 you get a copyright symbol ©

There are various websites that provide a full list, eg. http://www.alt-codes.net/

Letters with umlauts:

Alt 132 = ä

Alt 137 = ë

Alt 148 = ö
