DFW C.V Late, Karaya 1/48 scale
« on: October 25, 2015, 08:22:30 AM »
Although it may seem as though I'm jumping on Przemo's Polish band wagon, I've been planning this build for a very long time.  It just took his remarkable project to get me truly motivated.  Now that the W.12 is done and off the bench, I'm itchin' to get started on this one.

This is the scheme I'll be doing.  Hopefully, Przemo will share some of his photos of this plane with me.

Major components:

Bag of smaller bits:

Benz BzIV engine:

And the photo etch:

Now for the tedious task of cleaning the parts.  After all the sanding and scraping and cutting, I'll need to wash them with soap and water.  Fun.
Cheers,
Bud

Terrific project, Bud.  The cleanup will be tedious but the Karaya castings are really nice.

the karaya dfw kits really arent bad except the first production batch one where they cut some corners. you will have to scratch the ammo box and a few other bits but no problem for a fantastic modeller like you bud. did i imagine you started a wnw hansa w.12. i thought you did but cant find the build nymore.

Thanks for all the encouragement, fellas!  And thank you Przemo for all the terrific photos.  They'll be a great help
Yes, Drew, Gregory and Scott, the Karaya D.V is a superb kit.  Probably their best.  They're all quite good, though.  Too bad they're not doing WWI aircraft anymore.  I'm really disappointed that the Elephant and the Nie.12 series never went into production.
Scott, I did start a WNW W.12, but set it aside to work on this one.

Not much of an update here, but it always feels good to get the first bit of paint on a model.  Got all the interior wood bits done.

Lots of room for scratch building here.
Cheers,
Bud
