Keith,
I'll be easy to track, it gets slower as I try to forge ahead. In a concept very familiar to you I keep finding more "things" I want to incorporate into the Build!
Nice to see you back here, you've been unusually quiet of late. Something on the go that will turn up on that beautiful old oak stump in your back yard I hope........ :o
Cheers,
Lance

Hi Icaroll!
If this can be of any help!
http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=5587.msg100227#msg100227
Keep it up! It looks good so far. And yes you'd need to change the angle of the handles.
Ciao

Iwik,
My apologies, in all the excitement of getting this started I completely forgot your Build Thread and excellent model :-[ :-[ ! Had I spent some time reviewing your efforts I could have saved a lot of time and effort, not to mention I would not have missed a few details that I'm going to get working on immediately. :( Thanks for this!
Cheers,
Lance

Seams seem evident enough in these photos:

Yes, these are some of the ones I'd viewed when I decided to include the seams. A little less pronounced then on the Kit parts! These are even clearer on my monitor then the "hard" versions I have, Thanks Bo.

Hi Lance:

Glad to see this taking shape.  It sat on my shelf far too long and you are bringing it to life in "True Carroll Fashion."  I will be following along as you go through the build.
Until that time
Mark

Good to see you've dived into this project with such enthusiasm Lance. A little old fashioned modelling is good for us all as it keeps the creative juices flowing.

I like the looks of that blue scheme with the arrows. That would be an eye-catcher for sure.

What are you using for seam filler? I ask because I want to know how to get good clean lines when re-scribing them. I tried it once and I wasn't impressed with the result, as the lines seemed rather 'soft'.

I'm looking forward to your next update already.

Cheers,

Chris
You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

   - Gary, thanks, I've been wanting to model this aircraft since my 1:48 Scale days, it's one mean looking machine.
   - Mark, I certainly feel lucky having got my hands on this one without having to sell my truck, like many of the Roden Series it is a great model once a few basics are worked on.
-Chris, I'm using two coats of Tamiya Surface Primer; the real key is the scribing tool, RB Industries one shown below. It's a goofy looking little tool but I've never got the results that it provides, it's inexpensive, and as long as you take your time it does a really great job. It's Photo etch and just slips into a standard hobby knife as you see. Highly recommended!

Cheers,
Lance

A small update, I got back to the misaligned hand holds and they worked out just fine. The surrounding areas were ground out with the trusty Mototool and the outlines trimmed to match the panel lines. I don't use this tool often but when it's required it's a great little gadget.

The fuselage stringers used as handles on the three openings (Evergreen Strips again) were then CA'ed into place the results look much better then the original kit examples.

I'm almost done with the flying surface ribs, will be priming them today or next. There's no urgency here, the PE Set still hasn't arrived and I've just ordered the resin engine from Aviattic, really looking forward to that little beauty as well.
   More to follow.......... :)
Cheers,
Lance

 Lance,
Excellent bit of surgery my old friend. It never ceases to amaze me how the simplest of updates and upgrades add so much to the overall appearance of any project. Keep up the awesome progress old friend.
Highest Regards,

That's much nicer Lance, good to see the hand hold aligned correctly, not a huge job but a necessary one, looking forward to seeing the next steps in the build.
