a bit of progress

i managed to find a couple of parts with the right corrugations on sprue b that are not needed (i hope) to fix the mistake on the wing.

the only trouble is there was only enough corrugations to fix the upper surface on the wings so i just used some plain plastic to fill in the underside.i think it looks alright just about.






i also got the two halves of the plane together and painted, i just need to let the paint dry good and then rub it down to get a nice even finish and get some brush marks out.

Michael, your solution to the wing gap looks more than 'alright'.  It looks flawless.

first off merry christmas and a happy new year to everyone  :)

it's a long while since i updated my build, my wife fell a few week ago and managed to shatter the radial on her elbow break her arm and dislocate her elbow  :(  all in one small slip. she is well on the mend now, but has been told by the docs that she will not get 100% use of her elbow movement back.how life can be changed in the blink of an eye.

so not much time for the junkers with all the ironing and cooking etc....

a few pics of progress to date. the engine and wings are dry fitted.

hopefully i can get cracking now life is slowly returning to normal.

I've had zero interest in building a Junkers J.1 but after seeing closeups of your weathering effect on the wings, all of a sudden I can see how I'd like to build one now too. That corrugated texture is an excellent canvas for weathering, and yours is superb.

   Sorry to hear of your Wife's accident, hopefully the permanent affects will be minimum. Like Chris I really like the weathered effect you have achieved, particularly on the corrugated surfaces. Very nicely done!

That's exactly what I was thinking, there's this cracking build and another excellent build over at LSP that's really whetted my appetite for one of these models.

got a bit more done on the junkers.

i was not looking forward too much to getting all the struts on and the top wing fitted but it all went together without much fuss.

you can see why they called it the flying tank!

Wow!  That is one beefy aircraft!  She looks wonderful  Michael. ;D  The weathering and subdued finish really give the impression of painted metal.  The aircraft looks very heavy!  Well done!  This gets me excited to build mine from the stash before too many years go by. :)

Haven't visited this thread in a while, so apologies Michael and belated best wishes to your wife!

Bob's got it right - WOW!!!. Those wings are superb, an excellent weathering technique - how did you go about it? I know I always ask everyone but I find everyone has some little unique 'twist' that produces awesome results ;)
