Ninefest! Duo WNW DH9 build
« on: September 15, 2015, 07:00:32 AM »
Just staking a marker to make me do it. It's my club annual Comp on 19 Nov, so I need a showstopper. I was perusing the stash, refs and the paucity of DH9s struck me. Not many DH9s get built. So I am going to do two!
One shall be the Lobster, the other a Silver Pheon scheme.

Outstanding! Good to see another Modeler doing a dual build. I will follow with interest as I own the Pheon Decals and the kit is on my short list of "Needed" kits.

by lobster do you mean a british scheme as in the brits are lobsters due to the redcoats? as i am sure you may know the colonist called the redcoats lobsters. or is there a dh-9 scheme called the lobster? maybe a red one? just wondering.

Yes, the underestimated DH.9..! It's simply no Camel, nor a Fokker... Just ordered one; not sure, which scheme I like the most, so many there... Probably will do the Lobster; Hellenic Air Force scheme is very attractive, too... True, you don't see many built, I recently found one beautifully painted in the Hellenic colours on Michel Gruson's FB site.

I have 3. I'm toying between the CDL presentation Greek aircraft of Moraitiinis or the RAF Russian campaign one with the Blue Arrow down it.

Any colour you like, so long as it's red!

Great to see you building this model, DrDave. Or even two!

Indeed, not so many DH.9s are built. And I do not understand, why. It is a lovely aircraft, WNW have produced a fantastic kit. Out of my 12 completed WNWs, for me this one is ranking among top three.
And truly, that newly appeared Greek DH.9 in WNW website is very attractive.

Great work with the red, Dave. Lots of subtleties worked into the monochrome.

Wouldn't be hard to find this one in a fog.

Cheers from NYC,
Michael
