That's what I was trying to explain about the rib "humps" that you left on the wing - it would for- shorten the decal...that's why it's written on the decal sheet - "remove rib stitch detail".

Replacement on its way!
Richard

I understood what you were saying Richard, but I think I must have somehow stretched the decals because instead of them being too short they were a little too long. That's why when I try the lower lozenge on the upper wing I'm splitting it into three pieces so I'll easily be able to trim a minute amount off if necessary.

Thanks again Richard for all your help and thanks Rick, Martin & Des for your continued encouragement.  :)

Here's several pics showing some more progress . Struts in place and tail's rudder and stabilizer attached. On the front engine, engine's support cage and cowl in place and Gaspatch's excellent twin Spandaus mounted. As previous stated, I screwed up the top lozenge decal for the upper wing and Richard of Aviattic is kindly sending a replacement one across the pond to me. As soon as that arrrives I'll be able to get the top wing mounted. Also should soon have the wheels painted and mounted. After some final detail and touchup painting it will be time for some rigging. You'll notice that I used the golden yellow swastikas from Pheon kindly given to me by our one and only "coyotemagic". (Thanks again Bud!) I wasn't able to fine any concrete evidence what color they actually were. I just thought that the yellow looked better than the white.  ::)

The yellow on the black looks brilliant, a perfect choice.

A very nice model and a testimonial of how far Eduard has gone with their models.
The quality of this kit is Impressive even in the box.

I agree that this kit is far superior to their original 90's version. However even this kit is not without some minor fit issues here and there. One area that comes to mind is the engine support framework. I had to trim the "legs" some to be able to get the cowling flush against the fuselage.

Hello there Chuck!!!

I really like your progress, looking really sharp!!!! ;)

According to kit itself It certainly looks very nice in the box but after speaking to Hellboy after his adventure It isn't as accurate as It seems in the box. Having said that doesn't mean It can't make for nice looking model ;)

Hi / great progress!
Seems there may be a fit issue with the size of cutouts in the wheel discs. Can you let me know how you get on?
I am considering  altering artwork and reprinting if this proves to be troublesome...
Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard, Here's some pics showing front then back:

Yep / thought so...looks like I need to correct the artwork and get replacements out to customers...strut shapes could do with having more wraparound too..

Regards, Richard

I think that the front need just a slight "v" shaped cutout because of the conical shape but because the back is flat so maybe no cutout at all. As to the struts, if you look at my earlier post (Oct 3rd) in the pic showing the front view you can see the white undercoat showing on the interplant strut edges. I didn't use the lozenge for the rudder so I just cut it into small stripes and used it to fill these areas. It was a little tedious, but doable.

A little minor update:
While waiting for the replacement upper lozenge to arrive, I decided to push on and finish the wheels. I painted them Gunze Off White and the tire is Tamiya Neutral Gray. I then made a mixture of Tamiya Clear Smoke and Clear Orange and ended up with a clear brown. I them airbrushed the mainly on the tire's sides and getting some on the white areas to give the impression of some dirt staining on the white.  ::) Here's 2 pics to show the effect. I think that it turned out OK. A pin wash of Humbrol red brown on the center stitching and valve cover flap. I still need to paint the axle end black to complete the wheels.
