As my modeling interests cover all eras of military aviation, after completing the WNW LVG I moved on to a couple non-WWI projects.  In late 2010, a friend introduced me to the assistant editor of a new modeling magazine just getting ready to publish its first issue - Airfix Model World.  After seeing examples of my work, I was invited to do some projects for them and would I be interested in building Eduard's new 1/48 OEFFAG Albatros 153 (which they would provide)?  The timing couldn't have been better as I was getting ready to order one for myself.  I'll not go into the ordeal of learning to do a magazine project but suffice it to say that I'm thankful that my editor is a very patient man.   :)  The article was published in the May 2011 issue.

By the way, the Clear Doped Linen and rib shading effect were learned from none other than our own Des.  The description of his technique can be found on his main site.  Thanks for your help, Des!

Cheers,
Eric

Such a pretty Oeffag, Eric.  This one inspired me to build mine.

Thank you all, for your very kind words on this and my other Completed Models posts.  I really hope to get something new from the WWI era going soon but I have several project commitments to AMW that come first.

I also need to take some time to view all the other fabulous builds that are being posted but just haven't had the opportunity.  Please forgive me if my activity here is sporadic.  My schedule gets crazy sometime.   :)

Cheers,
Eric

  Eric,
May I ask  what project are you committed too for AMW? I'm looking forward to see them.

  Hi Gregory,

Thank you for your interest but as much as I'd like to tell you, I've been asked to not divulge details about pending AMW projects until after they've gone to print.

I will say that my current project, which I've been working on since the end of last year, should be wrapped up in a few weeks but probably won't be published until later this year.
The subject is a modern aircraft of the Red Star persuasion.  ;)   I took a break from it a couple months ago to do a special techniques article which is to be in the next issue (June).  It will be of limited interest to strictly WWI modelers though as it deals with working with canopies.

The next couple planned projects are also non-WWI aircraft but there is a Wingnut kit in the queue.  I don't know when I'll be asked to build it though.  Since I'm a slow builder with limited time, my editor knows to give me plenty of lead time which means I don't get asked to do something they need right away.

Cheers,
Eric
