1/72 Gabardini 80 cv - scratchbuilt
« on: August 25, 2015, 05:30:08 AM »
Another blast from the  past.
This 1/72 Gabardini dates back to the early 80s (1982-83)
The fuselage is built from scratch in plain white plastic card - (incidentally there was no Evergreen here in Italy in the 80s) while the wings were borrowed from an 1/48 Artiplast Avro 504. The other wing of the 504 was borrowed to convert a Revell Fokker E III into a Morane Parasol and the fuselage went into a Cierva C.6...
The engine comes from an airfix Avro 504.

thanks for giving a look at this old model...

That's a neat little model too, another plane I've barely heard of...

Very nicely done, Ermieo!  Another very unusual aircraft brought to light.
Cheers,
Bud

Very nicely done, especially taking into consideration the lack of Evergreen....how on earth did we manage without it?

Another excellent model and of another type unknown to me. You have a marvellous collection of unusual types - great too to see kit parts being used in multiple builds. A true kit converter!

BTW we managed without Evergreen in those days…. I am still using some 10, 15 and 60 thou card of 1970's vintage: it is good quality and is quite useable. On the other hand the strip plastic is new and really worth having…

Stephen.

Thanks for your words Bo, Bud, Ian, Guy and Stephen
Very kind of you.
Two years ago I had a chance to measure a replica of this aircraft (two exemplars of the original one preserved by the Caproni family and a pair of replicas are still around), so probably I will end up with another model...

Beautiful work and clever use of parts for kit bashing! Everyone should have two of these  8)

Extremely well done Ermeio, your scratch building skills are second to none and your ability to use parts from other kits and marry them to the model you are building is amazing.
