« on: August 19, 2015, 09:24:46 AM »
hey gang - just checked at Wingnuts and and saw a couple 'special deals', which are the regular kits + the Squadron book. Hisso + Squadron for $, both FE.2b's + Squadron for $. although they aren't the long-awaited 'special edition' kits they are good deals!  :)

IMHO I think with the fall of the world currencies against the US dollar Wingnuts are starting to feel the pinch, sales must be at an all time low for them to start offering 'special deals'.

Maybe sales are low because they haven't released anything new in forever, and the last things they did were outrageously priced....

Yeah, been pretty quiet for a while now - maybe they will get that Camel out soon and hopefully one or two other single-seaters that are easier on the bank account :)

I would be tempted to get a FE.2B but just one kit not 2. That is a bit too much for my wallet.

The special deals look nice if you don't already have the SE5a and FE2b but as Des says, it's possible these specials are part-driven by the impact on global currencies of the US Dollar exchange rate. The Aussie dollar right now is being hammered.

Also, and this especially applies to me, I wonder how many are holding off buying any more WNW kits just now till we see what they release with the Camels? I expect at least two variants and who knows what else may  be in the surprise releases?.

Once we know what's being released, we can then better decide which kits to buy.

I'm certainly holding off until the next release.  I'm thinking of buying a Rumpler or the DH9, but before dropping $100 on either of those, I want to see what's next.

Personally I think Des hit this one squarely on the head, the FE2b late/early would have to be just about the most challenging Wingnut kits ( rigging wise ) available, combine that with the strong US dollar and I bet they haven't moved too many of this particular kitset and are trying to generate sales with this "deal". I love this aircraft ( I already have the "late" in the stash ) and this "deal" has me defiantly considering

I think the SE5a is a great deal for anyone who doesn't have the book and or kit. I have both so will pass. Like others have said I am waiting for the next release. If it is a reasonably priced single seater in my interest range I will make a purchase. The Felix and AEG were way out of range for me and didn't float my boat so to speak  ::)

You know, I've done some laborious pondering on this subject and have come to the conclusion that these kits are just being sold at the normal price with the book being thrown in for free.  Yes, I know I'm thick as a brick, but is that really a great deal?  Dunno.  ???

Rick's summary matches mine, and I have a Fee in the Stash as well. These are good value packages if you don't already have the products, wonder if similar bargains are imminent? ???

Bud,
I paid full price for both books and they are, IMHO, excellent. If I didn't have them already the Fee deal would be attractive for sure.......
