A change is as good as a rest.
« on: August 13, 2015, 11:54:22 PM »
Hello all,
Not had much time for WW1 aircraft tickling of late, but I have recently nailed together Tamiya's excellent Char Bis Tanky Thingy. She is in primer and ready for the top 3 colour German camo. Should be fun... I hope!

Question:
Can the extractor fan on these collapsible spray booths be upgraded? Mine needs a wee bit more sucking power!!
Cheers,

Hm,..........................seen from the distance, the color looks exact as the color on your BMW-Tracktor.
Or am I mistaken here perhaps ???.................................. :P

My booth is home made using a bathroom extractor fan I bought from our local hardware store for $15. It is more than enough power for the job and it's pretty quiet. Take your fan out and see if there is a suitable replacement available.

Bob,

Well, this really is a change of model genre for you!

Being a brush painter, I cannot offer any advice regarding your spray booth ..............

Bob, that is a nice change...you'll have to keep us updated on
the progress.  I think George's idea is a good one.
Have fun with the tankey-thing, my friend. :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Bob, just a word of caution about fitting a more powerful extractor fan to your bob... er booth, the kitchen extractor fans (and those for use in paint booths) are modified to prevent electrical sparking, I think. I imagine a cloud of vaporised alcohol passing over a sparking electric motor could produce interesting effects "downstream" at the extractor duct exit, or in the confined area of the booth itself..... Bye-bye eyebrows and instant weathering of your charred Char!
