My Felixstowe antidote
« on: August 13, 2015, 05:49:55 AM »
Finally completed. One of two prototypes of the first PZL-built fighter - PZL P.1/II. It was designed in 1929 by Puławski. In that time it was the world first entirely metal-structured fighter plane. P.1 was the first from the whole family of P-fighters: P.6, P.7, P.8, P.11 and P.24. Their features were seagull-wings, wavy metal sheets covering the wings (originated from the patent acquired from French Wibault) and undercarriage with dampers hidden inside the fuselage.
The model depicts the prototype in its civilian markings as it was taking part in fighter-competition in June 1930 in Bucarest, Romania. This Polish debut was a great success, though political pressure on jury caused that it was placed 4th despite wining 8 of 15 competition categories. Even though, the aircraft was considered as revolutionary and inspired many other constructing companies.

Now back to the point - WNW W.12 is calling ;)

Neat story and a well built model of a very attractive little airplane.

Please tell me that the marking on the upper wing are decals...if not, masking over all that raised detail must have been a real craziness maker.

I look forward to your joining the W.12 fun-show, Prze.....you will certainly bring a touch of grace to the proceedings.

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

Thanks, gentlemen, for dropping in and leaving your kind comments.

Yes, I have forgotten to tell, that this is a resin kit by Arma Hobby in 72nd scale.

Michael, the markings are decals indeed. However, making them conform with the sheet wave detail was the same nightmare as masking and spraying would be. Inevitably, the decals broke in many spots, I had to retouch them with brush applied red paint - another nightmare taking into account the notorious lack of opacity of red paints... Anyway, I finally reached a compromise between what I was able to accept and what I was able to achieve.

 Prze,
Wow thanks so much for posting this little beauty my old friend. I'm absolutely in love with her sleek lines and gull wings. Your choice of paint scheme and its application appears absolutely flawless. Well Done!

I can't decide what i like most - the aircraft's design or the markings you used. Very beautiful (and something different indeed).

Sweet Prze  ;)

I would have given up before I'd started with those corrugated wings..  :P

Hello gentlemen and Ladies,
Beautiful full-colored model. I'm looking for the P11 and Karas in quarter scale.
Best regards.
Alain.

Thank you, everybody. I am very happy you like the Polish aircraft.

KitRookie, for P-11 in 72nd scale the best choice at the moment is currently the relatively new Azur offering.
As for Karas, the best choice is still the old Heller kit which can be enhanced with Part PE set. I have built it long time ago:
http://www.ikb.poznan.pl/przemyslaw.litewka/modele_pliki/karas.html

EDIT: I have just realised that quarter scale is not 72nd but 48th.  :-[  Then, there is a nice choice of Mirage models for P-11 and Karas.

This is a nice change from the usual military versions of this aircraft!

Very, very nice modelling work and aircraft.
