12 monthly check
« on: July 21, 2015, 07:57:22 PM »
Hard to believe it has been 12 months already but I went back to my Ophthalmologist for my yearly check after having both cataracts removed. My vision is very good, they also scanned my eyes for any other issues but all came back well except for a slight haze growth (film) over my left eye lens, apparently this is very common and is my body's way of trying to reject the new lens. I will be going back to him next week when he will polish the lens with a laser, this will sharpen the vision and will stop the growth ever happening again, he will polish the lens in my right eye as well.

That is good news, Des! In our hobby, vision is of utmost importance. I'm glad to hear your vision is very good with minor, but reparable problems. Thankfully we will get to enjoy many more of your beautiful models! :)

We must be on much the same schedule, Des, I'm "in the chair" for my big check up in less then 2 hours from now. Hopefully it will go as well as yours. ???
Cheers,
Lance

When you think about it, that is an amazing statement. I remember when lasers were still just a futuristic idea.

All sounds good, Des!

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

That's terrific news, Des!  Can't wait to see what modeling marvels you'll be able to produce once those lenses are polished! 8)
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks all. All's well, new lenses , with a very small change ordered. I have to go back in a month for the drops and dilation part but don't foresee any problems. As an aside, I had yet another reminder of what a small world it is; the Doctor's Grandmother turned out to be my Grand Mother's Sister (thus my Great Aunt) in a tiny Canadian Prairies Town generations ago, I haven't seen her since I was 6 years old! So we are "Grand Cousins" I suppose. Both families' Parents emigrated to Canada in the late 1890's from the Alsace between France and Germany; I grew up mostly under the influence of hard working Farmers of German heritage as did he. It was a wonderful discussion and coincidence! I started by telling him with his name he had to be from southern Saskatchewan, and he was shocked, then when I told him the tiny Farm Community he was probably from I had his attention!
.........and all of that happened on the way to the Eye Doctor`s Office! :o
Cheers,
Lance

Glad everything is going well. I had cataract surgery ten and eleven years ago, one year apart. Everything still better than before surgery. Just use reading glasses for reading and building my models.

I use +4 magnification glasses for modeling but don't need glasses for driving or watching TV, once the eye lens has been polished it should be even better.
