When I saw this video the first thing I though was "Instant Bavarian checkerboard markings for the Jasta 5 Albatros!!" - Maybe this trick could be of use for scale models... see here:

Thanks for the link Beto, a very interesting idea and works extremely well on large objects, don't know how it would go on the tiny parts of a model, but probably worth a try, might work for applying wood to a fuselage.

may work for wooden fuselages or on lozenge wings,basically anything with a large repeating pattern, perhaps even something like aviattics pc-10 linen effect sheet. you can base coat a khaki brown green then dip the large fuselage and wing parts in.
