Your engine is looking outstanding... as always Des! Your additions are making a good engine into a piece of art!

Many thanks Michael, Martin, Ron, Rick and Przemol for all the very kind comments.

You are quite right Michael saying that the missing components for the engine is unforgiveable, the engine is fully exposed so must be appropriately detailed. Some of these aircraft flew without the radiator/engine fairing which exposed the engine even further. As you already know I enjoy detailing my engines so I will be doing my best to detail this particular engine to be as close to the original as possible.

Ron, looking forward to seeing your engine once you have it completed, should be a spectacular kit.

Hi Des,

Have you tried placing the engine into the nacelle bottom? My engine is too deep and too wide. The result is that it does not mount as shown in the instructions and may need modification/reshaping. Just a heads up as you super detail yours.

Thanks Dave for the forewarning. I assembled the engine struts and the PE mounting plates, the struts are reinforced with stainless steel wire which is very hard to cut. As with your engine Dave, I also needed to file quite a bit off the bottom of the crank case to allow the engine to sit low enough to sit on the bearers, the width was spot on though. These photos show the engine and engine struts just sitting in position for photo purposes, even at this early stage the extremely attractive lines of this aeroplane are quite visible. I still need to add more details to the engine.

Des,
The engine is continuing to develop into a model in and of itself! It seems as though it is a good thing you guys like problem solving and overcoming difficulties in assembly!

The tail has now been fitted, I used 0.5mm copper wire for the pins to hold the elevators and rudder, this allows for adjustment to the position of the elevators and rudder if needed. I also used pins to fix the tail plane to the bottom of the fin. I will now remove the rudder and paint it before final fitment.
