Big purchase

Well I have been thinking a lot lately and the Felixstowe is just beyond my skill levels, So not getting it. But as I was making ignition leads for my Albatros yesterday I realized that I just cant seem to do small stuff even though I do enjoy it. So bought a binocular microscope yesterday. I'll either up my game or waste a bunch of money.
Anyone else ever use one for modeling?







Guess we'll see when it arrives.

I tried making a couple of ignition leads this morning at work. A bit difficult to get used to, but it worked okay. For mine I also ordered a .5 magnification lens which is supposed to increase the work distance. I was nice to be able to see clearly what I was doing. So when mine arrives I will be experimenting a lot I think.
Maybe one day I'll buy the usb camera for it also and take some pics of my work.

I was using similar tool extensively, while i have been in the university. Ever since I got into modeling, I was wondering if one of those binocular loupes willbe usefull or not. Please shareyoyr opinion with us, butgive yourself some time to get used to the tool :)

Hi James,

I've a couple of microscopes that I use for work but I've found the dissecting microscope (low power - like yours) useful for measuring wire thicknesses and occasionally for checking for burs etc on etched parts after they've been snipped off. Sometimes I've tried/experimented with threading wire/fibres in micro-tubing.
