Nice plastic nuts n bolts from Meng
« on: June 16, 2015, 03:17:57 AM »
Guys for your info.

Meng do a nice  range of plastic Nuts and bolts and a few conical rivets too with and without washers in about 6 different sets.
The small sets range from 0.8mm upto 1.7mm, the large from 1.8mm to 2.5mm and you get more than plenty of each on a sheet of snap off tabs.

thers also sheets of allen socket heads and  recessed nuts you could drill the centres through.

Very innovative

Hannants have them in stock, just search under nuts. or bolts... ::)

i saw those on ebay but it is hard to judge if they would lookk good or rather in scale on aircraft builds . so keith are they mainly better suited to 1/32 or could they also be used on 1/48?

.8mm works out to ~38mm in 1:48; that's a very large fastener even on an aircraft engine. About the largest fastener seen on the Merc D.III is 33mm (cylinder skirts to crankcase). 10, 14mm & 17mm are sort of typical sizes for general nuts and bolts -- the kind of things used in structures and so on.

1/32 I would say, not so good for smaller scales. The 0.8's look around WNW Merc case nut size.

case nuts hex size were 17mm (thanks Bertl) which works out to ~.5mm…

Well I'm not going to be anal about it but they look about the same as WNW's size wise.  ::)

When your eyes get as poor as mine and your fingers are like sausages they just become pips of plastic any smaller.  ;D
