Switches
« on: June 13, 2015, 11:11:36 AM »
I dont want to steal anyones thunder, this is not my idea originally. I saw it here and cant remember where.
Use Bronco 1/35 half wing nuts 35001 for switched. I filled in the holes with vallejo acrylic putty. I think it looks great and will use these for more builds. So pics with and without.

All credit to the original builder whose idea this was.

Okay, I'll have to go throough his builds again. I think I saw it in an Albatros build when I was researching. No matter its a great idea that I will use from now on. Chalk up another lesson learned from this awesome site. :)

I've used them on all my Albatros Builds in the past, Rolands and others too. It'squite an easy little fix for something WNW should have supplied. If Bronco can they should too.

Absolutely. Now that I see it it quite noticeable in its absence. Maybe it was one of your builds I saw it. :)

I'm sure they will appear in the deluxe edition...

Thanks for reminding us of these little beauties James, I have been using them for many years and have often wondered why the kit manufactures don't include a similar item with their kits, but Bronco makes a wonderful product and for the number you get they are inexpensive. I wrote to Bronco asking if they could produce the same set but without the hole, they never replied  :(

I, too, have been doing this for many years. But, I've been using GRANDT LINE product number 162. You get a lot of them in various sizes for cheap.

Des I used the vallejo acrylic putty and its nice because you can clean up with water so no sanding and inadvertent damage. I have to thank you again because I learned something new again on this great site.
Oietro I'll look for those.
Wish I had of seen this earlier. I'm quite happy now that I can add some little bits to my builds :)

Just a minor point for the rivet / stitch counters out there - the one-sided wingnut is a good representation of early Fokker Eindecker style switches; later switches had a simple rod handle rather than the flatter wingnut style.

Yarp, and technically speaking these things on the fuel panel weren't switches -- they were valve handles. At least in American English "switch" usually refers to something electrical...
