Just caught up with this Lukas - Stunning work on distressing that wing and lovely painting work on that prop. Your 'rust' is pretty A1 too  ;)

Hope you get settled in before too long - Have a great Xmas

I also have 3 topics in the "under construction" sections. But it's not a problem as long as you're having fun. They'll eventually get finished! 8)

just looking at your build, I saw your beautifull prop.
Can you show the backside and sides as well?
been trying to replicate something like that, but a 'walk-aroud' example would be nice.

many thanks, Hiide

Great work, Lucas!  The prop is a stunner and the fuel barrel
beautifully done, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Lukas,
What product/technique did you use on the fuel barrel? It's a fantastic finish, you've really mastered this one! :o

Lance

Lance, thanks for you comment ;)

Well, I had decent idea what look I want to achieve but didn't really know how... start looked very disastrous, I put first coat of Gunze surfacer and that didn't work - basically peeled of few bits of paint and some left untouched. I was going to use Gunze Resin Surfacer but since Im in Australia I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I still had some paint on it and decided to get rid off it in order to start all over again - so I decided to soak it in little bit of Gunze Thinner for little while (not knowing what happens to resin in it), got distracted and almost left my cart dissolve in it. Luckily that didn't happen and I still had main part almost intact and decided to use metal primer in all of my despair. It created very sticky surface but once I let it dry overnight and applied black Gunze surfacer all was well to receive paint. I went with various shades of grey (not inpired by the book/movie btw) and then sealed it with microsale matt varnish. It was all well until I applied AK interactive washes (old wood and rust) when I realised that microsale and AK washes don't like each other very well but I liked the effect and put little more washes and just experimented with what was happening on the surface - until I was pleased with results (basically what you see on the picture). Then just applied some thinned oil paints as final washes and pigments for dirt and some tamiya smoke for oil stains.

Looking back I feel very lucky because I have a feeling that I was very close to loosing all of my work and Aviattic's fuel cart with it just because of my mistakes I made while I did stuff that I wasn't sure of... Basically I made a lot of mistakes while experimenting, even risking but for good results. Well at least I like it ;)

So when you saying "mastered" I feel more like "somehow managed" :D This is how it's gonna work - if you ever try to use my very basic instructions and you fail then I will tell you that I told you I was lucky, if you succeed I will claim all credit for those instructions :D :D ;)

Lukas,
That's quite an experience, glad it worked so well for you. Remember that many of the world's greatest discoveries and inventions were the result of failed experiments! Some of my experiments in modelling have resulted in spectacular failures. I still consider the weathering on that barrel absolutely spectacular!

Lukas, BNA Model World usually stock the Gunze Resin Surfacer RP261 but at present their website is showing it as out of stock, they usually restock pretty quickly.
