With the publication of the two new Windsock Datafiles on the DV/Va and the excellent new Builder’s guide from the same source for the two superb Wingnuts kits, I thought it was a good time to further expand our coverage of the “Albie” with volumes three and four.

Those who have the Windsock titles already will recognise a good number of options from within their pages – either as profiles from the ever-excellent Ronnie Bar or “new” photographs but there are also a number (particularly in volume four) that are from different sources.

For previous releases we did the 32nd decals first and the other two scales came along later, this time it is our intention (funds permitting) to release them all at the same time. The final design of the decal sheets is being worked on now, so as yet we cannot quote prices but they will be announced here shortly.

I’m reluctant to give a definite release date as I am very aware that things this year have been a lot slower than we wanted, but I am confident that  - barring any further “challenges” being thrown our way- we should be firmly back on track very soon with further announcements of what we think will prove to be a very exciting release program for more WWI decals.

First set is 32036, 48031 or 72023:

Second set is 32037, 48031 and 72024:

As already stated, the final prices aren’t yet available, but I can say that they will be broadly in line with our previous similar sets. If you wish to place pre-orders now please drop us an email at [email protected]. All pre-orders can, as usual, be cancelled at any time so you are not making an open-ended commitment! I can also say that there will be free postage and packing for those who order both sets in advance before the end of July this year*.

Just a note for those patient souls waiting for the previously announced subjects, the two sets for Jasta 18 will be available to send out imminently, followed by the Gloster Gladiator and Hawker Demon sets. The other ones on the stocks – the Italian Hanriots in 72nd and 48th and the 32nd Gotha G.IV sets – will be going to print very soon.

* (unfortunately this doesn’t apply to customers with deliver addresses in Mexico, Brazil, China, Russia and South Korea – those customers will receive an equivalent financial discount)

The 1/32 Gotha decals are finally coming out?... Great news, indeed...
A blue Albatros? That might be a good idea, to try... ;)

Hello Jose,

Yes, the Gotha set will be out soon.

The Blue on these scans is much brighter and more intense than the actual artwork, for some reason...

Beautiful stuff, Rowan.  I'm not much of an Albatros fan, but with all these gorgeous sheets you're producing, I'm compelled to build a few.  Great news on the Hanriots.  I keep pulling my Hanriot kits out of the stash, wanting to build something relatively simple, then putting them back thinking, "Nah.  Wait till Rowan's decals come out."
Cheers,
Bud

Excellent Albatros decals Rowan but even more exciting is the news that you are bringing out decals for the Gotha. I was lucky enough to pick up a WnW Gotha on ebay and was hoping that there were some better decals around, my wish has been answered.

Great work on the Albatroses (Albatri?  ::)) Rowan, I quote Bud, although I just completed one seeing all that variety of schemas pushes towards building another one...

I am waiting for Italian decals, when you'll release the Hanriots I won't miss them to go with my HD1 / HD2 48 Eduard kit...

Ciao

Antonio

Thanks for all the positive comments, chaps. A steady flow of pre-orders coming in, which is great!

On the Gotha set, they won't be including any lozenge - the amount required for the Gotha and the cost of screen printing would make them just too expensive an option. Best to try Doug Bauman for these, as his printing method is much cheaper.

Well Steve, I've got four WNW Albatri in the cupboard - I just need to get round to some building.... This is where 1/48th (and 72nd)  comes in; cheaper and takes up less space for multiple builds - I still love48th scale!

Hi, Rowan,

And now for the oddball question of the week: is there any chance of Pheon doing an Albatros DV 1/32nd decal sheet that includes markings for the captured Albatros DV 4545/17?

This project has been dithering around in what passes for my mind for quite some time. Just thought that I'd get your take on the decal possibilities. I might be able to jury-rig the markings, but a first rate set of Pheon offerings would be rather nice!  ;D
Cheers!

Now that is an appealing marking scheme for a DV. I sure wish that I'd seen this before building my von Schleich Jasta 21 DV.

Cheers,

Chris
You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

Hello Gary,

I've also been pondering this one and others for a possible "they flew each others" decal set  - I think you actually got me thinking about it at Telford last year. There's no doubt that it would look really different - I'm almost hooked......

Watch this space......

Hi, Chris,

I've had that scheme in the far recesses of my mind for decades, actually, after doing an Airfix 1/72nd Albi in it in the '70's. Then came the WNW kit, then came Rowan's lozenge, then came all of the photos of 4545/17 on the WNW website. I must get the Snipe and Tripe when they arrive, but this little beastie still lurks under the modelling table...!  ;D

And now, back to the Staghound...
Cheers!

Ive lost track. Are the Alby 1/32 volume 3 decals available? The sheet example shows #32031 but you list it as 32036 either way Im interested.
