RB Productions 1/32 Fokker Eindecker PE wings
« on: May 01, 2015, 07:16:15 AM »
Hi all,
I found this over at the ARC Forums this morning and thought it should be shared here: http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_68&products_id=634

The description from the site:

Quote
1/32 Fokker Eindecker Wing Conversion Set

This is a set of photo-etched parts intended to modify the scale 1/32 Wingnut Wings Fokker Eindecker kits.

Suitable for the E.II, E.III and E.IV kits.

The kit contains the internal structure of the wings (left and right), elevators (left and right) and rudder.

This photo-etched brass kit is intended for experienced modellers.

The kit also includes instructions on how to scratch-build the very simple fuselage structure using plastic or brass rod.

Sounds like a lot of material in there! Anyone keen on a set?

Hi Zac,

Here's a thread on our forum about these wings. I have a set on the way! :)

I have had a good look at the photos of the kit and it is quite a complex set, will take some experience to put it all together properly. It is a little pricey though, after currency conversion it is more expensive than the original Wingnut Eindecker kit.

Oops, I should've known!  ::) Thanks George.

Des - I didn't even look at converting the price, I'm still strengthening myself for the prospect of buying and building a WNW E.I!

Hi Zac, go get the WNW Eindecker - any variant.  I have 3 of them and have looked at the instructions and sprues many times but have yet to start..

Maybe my next but one model!

I like the thought of the wing PE but I expect it needs a very precise build and if not exactly done may look out of synch, for now I'll stick to the (excellent) kit parts...

Like you Ian I have three Eindeckers in my stash, I have already built the dreaded Battle Axe E.III so am looking forward to the Wingnut kits.

If I had to choose, I would say the Eindecker is my favourite aircraft of all the WWI era.

It was a monoplane, which later became the template for most aircraft, up to the biggest airliners of today.  The gun/prop synchronising revolutionised air battles, and despite the later WWI aircraft being much more advanced, this type in my opinion is the most iconic of the whole war.  Plus, it has a relative simplicity in design and construction.

If I were ever to scratch build a WWI aircraft, it would be the Fokker Eindecker - maybe then this wing set would be a part way to achieve that.

According to RB, my order was sent on April 27 and should arrive any day. :D

I have the E.II, E.III WnW kit and these brass wings should look great on it, if I don't end up completely scratch building it! I'll post pics as soon as my order arrives.

Interesting.

But, as Des said, that amount of money will almost pay for another WNW Eindecker, or pretty much any WNW single seater.

I'd prefer to invest my dosh in another kit I think.

True, the wings are expensive, but it turns one WnWs kit part, a wing, into over 100. But it's not for everyone.

There is a long, cryptic web address on the paper that comes with the kit. You have to type it in manually, (yes it's a real pain),then you get a PDF of the instructions. There is also a link to a PDF with photo reference.

I received my wings a few days ago, but the edges of the main PE wing are bent up a bit. I'm not sure if I should send them back or just try to bend them back into shape. I'll post pics later tonight.
