Hi gang!
« on: June 30, 2012, 05:51:47 AM »
I'm a paper modeler. I've been building models for about three years now, so not much experience under my belt yet. I consider myself as a WWII modeler (aviation and armor), but recently I've discovered how fascinating and sexy stringbags can be. So far I finished only one WWI subject - DH.6A, but I'm looking forward to build more.
As I said, I build paper/card models, but I believe there is a lot of techniques and tricks of the mainstream modeling  ( ;) ) that can be borrowed and transferred to my medium. I'm here to learn.

Cheers,
Tomek

  Tomek,
Welcome aboard my friend. Glad to have you with us here. I've followed your build thread for the DH-6a on several web sites and I must say very impressive project. I'm looking forward to having your outstanding projects posted here and learning from you as well.
Highest Regards,

Welcome to the forum, Tomek.  I look forward to seeing your models on these pages.  We plastic modelers can learn quite a bit from you, as well.  I have a couple 1/48 card model kits that I intend to use as templates, substituting plastic card for paper, so I'm very interested in seeing your techniques.
Cheers,
Bud

Hi Gregory,
Thank you for the warm welcome and your kind words. Not sure I deserve such compliments - I still have a lot of learning.
I was suspecting I'll find here some of the LSP members ;)

Bud,
Funny, I'm always surprised to learn that paper modeling is not something completely strange and exotic. After so many instances of discovering that modelers know about this particular genre I shouldn't be, I think.
I promise to post some work in progress thread when I clear off my bench.

I'm definitely interested in seeing how you construct a paper model as it's something I've never attempted.

Cheers,

Chris

Hello Tomek and welcome to the forum, it is so nice to have you here. I am fascinated with paper/card modeling and look forward to seeing your work posted here, I will consider starting a new board specifically for paper/card WW1 models, being a unique form of modeling I think they deserve a place of their own and it may encourage others to start making and displaying paper models..

Hi Chris,
I have on my bench at this moment more projects than I feel comfortable, non of them WWI birds unfortunately. I need to finish them first, but then happily I'll post here some work in progress photos.

Des,
I'm a big fan of your modeling. I'm glad, I'll be able to watch how you build them now ;)
Based on my own experience intermingling is a good thing. I think plastic and paper modeling worlds are already too separated from each other  ;)

Pete, Bob, thanks!

Hello, Tomek, and welcome. Although you say that you are here to learn, I am sure that you'll be doing some teaching as well. We may all benefit from your experience in paper modelling!  :D
Cheers!
