My first WW1 build: WnW S.E.5a

Hi,

After long break from modelling, I started again 4 years ago and this is my first take on ww1 subject. Really beautiful kit and joy to build. Painted mostly with AKAN and Lifecolor paints. Wooden parts with oil colors (water based).

For your first WW1 build you have done an exceptional job Janne. The painting and shading are very well done and your wood work is brilliant, you have also done an excellent job with the rigging, congratulations on producing a wonderful model and I look forward to seeing your next WW1 build.

Excellent work on that SE5a, a real credit to you. I like your rendition of PC 10 too and subtle highlighting. A great debut in the wonderful world of Wingnuts kits !

Truly exceptional and impressive work for your first WW1 aircraft model ...................

I also agree the SE5a is a really good kit from WNW that fits together very well.

Thanks for the nice comments! As I was building my first ww1 plane, I was little bit nervous about rigging, wooden parts etc. But I just took enough time in every step, and did them again if it didn't look good to me. This model took me about 6 or 7 months, but I'm really slow builder anyway. PC10 is the brownish option from the AKAN RFC set. There's also a second one which is more green. I know that the PC10 is quite hot subject to some of us, but I just followed my own idea on this one and decided not to worry  :)

Just a great job on the SE5, Janne.  I like your
vision of the PC10...nice! I have one in the stash
and I would be very pleased if it came out as nice
as yours!  No "beginners luck" here...it's obvious
talent.  Looking forward to seeing your next project! :)

The PC10 has a warmth/glow that I find most appealing - well done!

You're a natural, Janne!  This SE5a looks like a lifetime of experience went into it.  Your painting skills are second to none.  I agree with everyone else on your choice of PC10.  I also prefer a more brownish tone.

What can I add? For a first attempt that is quite exceptional. The PC10 is just right - as you say there were many shades but yours has subtle shades which capture the spirit of the colour well. No problems there.
