That is extremely sad news, he is/was the world leader in WW1 aircraft reproductions and his talents will be sorely missed, but after reading his statement I can fully understand where he is coming from.
I wish him and his wife all the very best for the future.

That is very sad news.
However, Achim, if you read this, Hals und Beinbruch! Enjoy your life and do what you need to do.
What you did was outstanding, and will remain so, no matter that the vast majority of the world cares not......

wow the fokker king is gonna hang it up. i guess i will have to check out the link to see the whys. my guess would be lack of funding. we are a small few that are really into the ww1 aircraft. ww2 aircraft is 10 fold more popular. ww1 in general is but a forgotten footnote in the u.s.a. i get that we werent in it for the duration but. still to me ww1 is so fascinating. the first modern war. 1st aircraft,1st tanks,1st machine guns,1st attempt at camoflage. i know that tactically it was a long stalemate compared to ww2 with its fast moving campaigns and ground lost/gained but still are we (ww1 enthusist) that boring. when i tell people what i'm into they stare blankly. i guess we're born in the wrong age. to me nothing could be more exciting than flying in an open cockpit with the wind in your face. when i talk to young people they just care about jets. oh well.i guess when we all die off noone will care.

Reading between the lines he feels aggrieved as a result of some sort of build / buy gone wrong.

That's how I read it too.

It's often tricky mixing business with passion. Compromises are inevitable and they can be disillusioning, especially to an idealist.
