Hi,
I've really enjoyed checking out y'alls builds, amazing the details you're building into these birds.

I completed an Eindecker not long ago, thought I had upped the detail but wow! Nothing to the level you guys and gals are doing.

I'd like to submit my Eindecker for critic, I will be building an EIV soon and want to learn from this build to make that one a better build.

I know I went overboard with the oil stains, they were working so well I just got carried away so we'll get that out of the way now.  ;D

Congrats! Looks quite well. I would agree with your own opinion, that the weathering might be overdone. But besides that you have built a very fine model.
Is the prop painted or is it carved wood? Looks very convincing.
One more remark, the wings seem to have anhedral or is it a photo?

The model has been well built, cockpit detail is really nice, engine is well done and the cowling swirls are very convincing, but as stated by you the oil staining is a bit overdone. These aeroplanes did get quite dirty but probably not to the extent you have shown here. Przemol has indicated that it appears that the wings have anhedral, I know sometimes that the camera will distort what is actual but to me it looks like it has got certain anhedral. Overall it is quite a fine build and I look forward to you next effort.

Thanks gents, the wings, you know I'm not sure if I paid that close attention to them. Will not that for the EIV!

The engine is Taurus, I can't brag about the service I got from Lukasz as I fubared a couple of cylinder heads first time around and he was gracious enough to send some replacements. 

The Prop is the kit prop but I used the technique my buddy James said he picked up from you guys. Using colored pencil to get the wood grain and thin liberal amounts of gloss coat.

Cowl was done by using flat black and then hand painting gloss black for the swirls then overcoat of Alclad Chrome. Had a lot of fun with that one.

I did scratch build the control horns on the elevator, really wish someone would come out with some nice PE replacements.

 Nicely done, but, as others have said, a little too much. These machines generally didn't last too long, and any staining would be more on the underside and fuselage sides than the upper surfaces - the cowlings and oil channels being specifically designed to do just that.

Gorgeous looking Eindecker.  It's hard to over-weather an Eindecker.  You may have gone just a tad over the top, but from all the photos I've seen, not by much.  great job all 'round.  Looking forward to more.

I will not comment on the weathering as I have never seemed to be able to master the art of that bit…. The cowling is most convincing - among the best swirls that I have seen, and the propellor is excellent too. Is this 1/48 or 1/32 scale? In any even a very fine model indeed which is really not worthy of serious criticism - more nit-picking if that is what you wish. I too hope that you will post more model pics in future - your models are of a very high quality indeed.

I'm sorry I didn't mention that this is a 1:32 WnW kit, the EII/III Early.

@Bud....it's hard to over weather a Eindecker but leave it to me to do it... rotf

Lone Modeller (must be uk cause you spell funny  ;D ) thank you! I have Fokker DVII and a Sopwith Pup under my belt but those are not worthy of show and tell. I got a SE.5, Junkers J1 and the EIV in the wings so we'll surely be sharing more with you all.

And feel free to nitpick, I'm a big boy, I can take it.  8)

PS, weathering is really fun, I do a lot of armor stuff and picked up on those techniques, no reason not to apply them to aircraft, they get dirty also.

From period photos, some long-service Eindeckers accumulated an amazing amount of oil. They probably burned pretty readily too. In that sense your weathering isn't over the top, but some of it is not in appropriate areas, like the tops of the wings. Very nifty squiggling. I like the worn floor boards. They compliment the weathering.

I would pay more attention to getting the rigging and turnbuckles lined up straight. Ask me how I know…

I too have an anhedral issue with my E-III. I plan to deal with it by inserting shims of styrene sheet between the root underside edges where they meet the fuselage. I should have caught this before rigging, but I was distracted by the Prophet Murphy. More on this later.

Thank you, I have a plan for the next turnbuckle build, plan on using Gaspatch Type C parts where the eyelets are open on both ends and then using wire to create the attachment point, giving it actual pivot point so it SHOULD lay natural to how the pull is on the line.

I will surely be checking in again, might be an SE.5 seen before the next Eindecker.

I will not add further to the weathering comments, you know how you feel about it yourself. I will comment on the cowling, extremely well done! I also like the prop and wish I could master the laminations the way you have!

RGIII the prop was fun, I use to use oils but James suggested using the color pencils that he saw someone here do and I gave it a shot. I have to admit I surprised myself with that one.  8)
