Xan!  That is the best wicker seat I've ever seen!  Absolutely gorgeous!  1/48 scale?
Cheers,
Bud

hey Xan!
this is a very good seat!
I have made a fiew myself, both in 48 and in 32 scale, and I know how hard it is to wave one consitently, to tell nothing of the pattern in the middle.... very hard to obtain.
it seems to me that you used copper wire to knit it, but i found that copper wire is to stiff to bend tight: how did you do that?
great craftmanship overall!
ciao

1/48 scale?
forever!hi Bud  ;)

what technique did you use.
hello Des and edo!
 photo etched (part)

I bought a dedicated photoetched but the seat wasn't accurate  >:(
As you can see I can compare with a real reconstruction one, so I have to be precise...

What plane will you wrap around it?
Salut Nigel!
well let's play at riddles a little bit...
who will gess first the country which used those kind of seat ?

I my french forum were I asked the same thing a friend of mine told me the seat wasn't accurate, too low and not flared enough:

I send him out of my topic for a week of course!

Well, my first thought Xan was maybe something like a Camel or a Brisfit.

Best wishes

You were not very far with  the Brisfit nigel,
my new project is a Bristol Scout...

I liked the cage a poule idea , wich is to do 1915 planes, as we are on 2015...

locking in internet for information, I find this blog:
https://bristolscout.wordpress.com/

David and Rick Bremner conserved three pieces of their grand dad aircraft .

The Grand dad FDH Bremner, was RNAS fly sub lieutenant and pilote in Imbros isle in greece since december of 1915.

They decided to rebuild the plane, their granddad spoke about when they were kids, the bristol scout n°1264.

Rick at the left and David at the right.
I found the idea very worm; Any reconstructin project is very respectable, but to do the grandfather aircraft is like charging wood and fabric of emotion, love, and a splendid tribute.

It It goes perfectly with my way to understand modeling , represent historical aircraft because behind them there are men whose memoris can be remembered thanks to our models
there is four pics of this plane:

IMbrul in mars of 1916

Thassos in june of 1916

Thassos i n1916 FDH Brenmer "Bunnie" is holding the plane.
this pic shows surely the plane in 1915 (it's the 1262 or 1964)

It had to look therefore like the 1258:

I don't know yet how will I represent the plane.

I wanted to do an english plane in 1915 with the union Jack in the fuselage and red and white cockade, but the pics we have are all 1916 pics. Bremner arrive in late december of 1915...

One particularity of this plane is he had, has the 1962 had, inverted colors i the cockade, as french roundels were:

Great seat, Xan.  This sounds like a great idea for a project.  Looking forward to it.

The kit is the gavia (the only one I think at 1/48 scale)

It seems quite pretty and simple.

I have the part photoetched dedicate to this kit too:

I add the WWI seat  part photoetched to reach the right seat...

It appears to be a fairly decent kit Xan, the PE parts will certainly add a lot of detail to the model, looking forward to following along with your build.

I started my scout:

hard work isn't it?
well I gess I could give more explication...
in the part photoetched, there is this:

honestly I don't like very much fusekage structure un photoetched , so I started to use it as model for a plastic one...

then I thought it was unnecessary, at the end nothing will be visible.
It was a shame because in the David and Rick blog there was all the detail:

then a remenber this Sodium beauty I saw last week in Lyon's exposition

So I will try to do a structure without fabric with a maximum of detail at the side of the Gavia kit ...
In the second day I find a way to complicate what had to be a relax mounting...
