I don't think the accelerating sell outs of WNW kits in any way suggests they are winding down, it simply reflects that models that have been on the market for some years are selling out now, as we would expect them to do. The Fokker D.VII (OAW) has been available since November 2012 as was the D.VII (Fok). The kits have obviously sold well but we don't know the production run as this is a State secret to WnW.
While some have ventured some near- criticisism of those who assemble model kit stashes, the reality is those of us who bought the Fokker D.VIIs when they were released, or Albatros D.V, Sopwith Triplane, Hansa W.29 or RE.8 or LVG etc etc, can take some comfort in knowing the kits are there waiting for us and we won't be held to ransom by "collector" prices when we get round to making them.
To me, stash hoarders are modellers who actively make models but also squirrel other kits away in case they become impossible to get. I am a builder and genuinely intend to build everything in the stash.
Kit collectors generally seem to assemble huge collections per se but don't seem to actually make a model. Just one person's view.
