USMC DH-9a
« on: February 06, 2015, 01:14:15 PM »
Well, I finished this sometime ago, and presented this to the USMC flight museum at Miramar Air Station. I was able to borrow this back for Winterfest , Jan 24th, 2015. I was a contender for best of Show, but since I'm a member of the club that hosts Winterfest, it was best to avoid any conflict of interest issues, and that award went to a 1/15th Bergepanther by Mike McFadden; I was awarded best Aircraft, I don't remember posting any finished piccies last time around, and to my embarrassment, I plum forgot the drag lines from the cowl to the leading edges of the wings; I added those before the show.
At ant rate, here is my DH-9a, one of the interior, and some completion shots.

Simply gorgeous, Mike!  She truly is a winner.  Congratulations, on your win and on her place of honor in the USMC museum.

Wow, Mike you really nailed that one!  What a superb model and
truly deserving of the honours!  It is in a perfect home in the
Marine Corps Museum and a fitting tribute to your model building
talent!  Beautifully done, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Nice work! It gives me some impetus to pull mine out of the stash to see what I can do with it. Nothing as spectacular as what you've accomplished here though.

Cheers,

Chris

Beautiful!
You also just answered a question I was needing to ask re a future DH4 build I have planned - wasn't sure if the USMC a/c carried the same roundals on the wings as they did on the fuselage - I'm guessing they didn't!
Congrats on the award and having the finished item displayed in the USMC museum, well deserved!

Great looking kit Mike - although there is obviously not enough PC10 for my liking!

Congrats for your award!
A really nice model. I like your attention for all  the crisp details! The work on cockpitdetails is my favorite!
An eyecatcher!

Beautifully done Mike, the detailing is very impressive and the overall effect most worthy of the Award. Glad you shared this with us, the more I see of this Kit the more I'm tempted.......

Congratulations on a well deserved award. That certainly deserves to be in a museum so that many can admire it.
