looking good. Have wondered about these kits and its nice to see one being buit. Did they fly with the cover off the pully cut out or will you be covering that?

If you are speaking of the Pulley inspection panels on the wings and tail, they will get filled with Epoxy or Kristal Kleer after painting to represent the clear cover.

RAG, youre making wonderful progress on your SE5a! Like some others here, I too have this kit in the stash and its nice to see one being built.

I like the idea of filling the inspection ports with epoxy, what sort do you use? Ive had ideas of utilizing the clear plastic window from the front of a pasta boxes to simulate the cellon but hadnt yet figured out how id go about getting it in there and getting it to look decent.

You are doing excellent work Rick, the inspection panels are very well done and the wood is superb.

Thanks, I didnt know that. I wonder if the pullies were problematic and so needed a visible inspection panel. Something to look up I guess :)

i have one of these , really not a bad kit. something looks a tad off with the figures proportions but otherwise great resin parts and the photoetch is very nice. i really like the little strut wraps that give you an anchor for rigging built in. also i think the resin pulley inserts look better than wnw molded in detail, although you can beat having it molded into the wing when it comes to simplicity. the guns are best upgraded especially the vickers. my mistake and what made me give up and put it back p on the shelf was that when i installed the pulleys i was careless about destroying the surface/fabric over frame details and had to resort to rib tapeing with evergreen which ended up too pronounced so then i started sanding until i got sick of it and put it aside. maybe one day i may pull it out again. meantime i will live vicariously thru you rick.

Rick, my apologies for somehow missing this build up until now. :-[
You are doing an excellent job, especially with the work on the
pulley inspection panels. I am glad you went with the styrene interior
framing, which looks first-rate as does the wood colouring.  I will
certainly be following the rest of the way and looking forward to
the next updates.  Well done, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks Ernie, and all of the others who have posted comments. Greatly Appreciated!! I have been working on this one and made some progress. Still a long way to go. I am finding it difficult to keep adding things that I wouldn't be playing with if this were the WNW SE5a  ;D
That being said I am progressing albeit slowly..... :(

The fuselage halves are just Placed in position over the wing. I have to paint the bracing wires steel and add some smoke and mirrors turnbuckles  8) I am going to add some more stuff that WNW includes stock. More in a few (4 or 5), days.
