Hello Rick,

I like the start of it...and also it got me thinking about purchasing this one as there is one from second hand available from one guy on the different forum...hmm, well I see how tempted I really am in few days. In the meantime I'll be enjoying this build :)

Thanks Lukas. As for this kit it is a good kit with all of the updates. Its value depends on what you pay of course. In the end it is not WNW in that it takes a lot of work, but does build up into a nice SE5a.

PS: Here is a Viper Powered version almost finished. It was knocked off of my display case shortly after being photographed  :-[

Hello, Rick

Apologies for not looking in on your build before.  Your off to a great start already.  I've no doubt this model will be to your high standard so good luck, mate!

Thanks Dave. I will try to live up to expectations  8) I made some progress today. I am using the engine OOB as stated with NO FRILLS. I have given it the basic paint work. I also have installed the PE triangular pieces for the inspection panels. Finally I have installed the PE framework in both fuselage halves.

Hi Rick,

thanks for heads up!!! I sort of like the idea of having Encore rather than WNW(which is odd) thanks to PE and resin details and surely little more of modelling :D
In the meantime I'll be watching this closely!!!

A small update. The PE frames kept popping loose whenever the fuselage flexed. Perhaps had I used 2 part epoxy this would not have been an issue. So... Replaced the PE with plastic strip. I sprayed some Vallejo RLM sand then used oils on the wood portions. Next up is aging the CDL a little and installing bracing wires:

Sorry you had issues with the pe, amigo, but the plastic framing looks better, imho, especially with the great woodgrain paint job you did.
Cheers,
Bud

Hi Rick, I agree with Bud. The plastic frames look very nice and the colour is great my friend. When you start painting you're the best!

Kind regards
