I finally have an update worth posting! First let me say that this kit is excellent. The PE is terrific and what I am about to say is due to my INCOMPETENCE!
I painted the struts using the usual techniques ,oils  over acrylic. I then began to use the PE (parts 53 and 54), this is the part with that nice rigging attachment that goes on each interplane strut end. I had attached several when I dropped one... or should I say sacrificed to the Carpet Gods! Looked on and off for days but no Joy! So, I ripped off those already installed. This left the ends of the struts with little detail as I had sanded off the molded on stuff! So I painted the ends black and went on. I installed the struts on the wings and fuselage and began to fit the upper wing. I ended up getting the interplanes in place then as they were able to be pushed forward or backward to a degree this allowed me to mount the cabanes. This sounds easier than I made the process  :-\ I used a lot of glue both liquid styrene and super varieties. So now the upper wing is mounted and I have some real work to do on removing some glue blotches and touch up painting. I am posting some photos but it should be noted that the "Apparent" odd angle of the right Interplane struts is an Illusion created by the angle of the shot.

Really looking the part now Rick, the wings and struts look excellent, sorry to hear that the carpet monster devoured one of your parts. Looking forward to seeing more updates.

Ah! Nice to see it become a bi-plane! Despite the sacrifice to the
carpet gods, you are progressing really well.  Good work, my friend. :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

It's looking really great. I especially like your CDL on the undersides of the wings!

Thanks Des, I appreciate you looking in! Also thanks to Martin, Justin, Ernie, and George. Your encouraging comments are also greatly appreciated!

The reality here is that this one came very close to being posted in the Hall of Shame Section! There were several times it almost flew  :o
As things are going I am now building more of a slightly enhanced Roden kit than the Encore version  :-[
On a positive note I am Happy with the rib tapes, CDL, and PC 10!

  Rick,
Excellent update my old friend. Are any of the resin updates included with the Encore kit available as separate up grades? I'm interested in the resin pulley inspection panels.

Hi Rick:

Just catching up a bit on your build.  This is great work you are doing.  I have this kit and want to do it in Mannock's markings.  I like the CDL on the undersides.  Looks the business alright.

Best

Gregory, Mark, and Ondra,
Thanks for your encouraging and positive comments! Gregory, I checked the squadron site and it seems the only resin available separately is the McCudden figure, decals and a bulged cockpit for the WNW kit.

  Rick,
Thanks for the information my old friend. I won't be modeling for awhile yet but after seeing what you've done with your Roden SE-5a makes me want to build up one of my Roden SE-5a somewhere down the line.
