Now for the latest update:
1. I installed the engine. I did scratch build some formers using the WNW parts as masters and making slight adjustments to fit this kit. I eliminated the engine bearers that came with the kit as they seemed to interfere with the fit of the engine. I also had to cut off the locator on the underside of the engine for the lower piping. In order to get the upper cowl parts on the pipe attachments stuck out through the PE lower fuselage part. Probably something I did wrong! In the end I attached the upper cowl panels and everything is somewhat OK now. I am at the stage where this will be the redundant process of DRILLING holes for rigging!

The engine cowls appear to have fitted extremely well Rick, this is turning into a real gem.

You're quite the surgeon, Rick.  Good job getting the engine to fit properly.
Looking forward to the next update, my friend.  Happy drilling! ;) ;D

I don't think that cowling could possibly fit any better, amigo!  Remarkable job.

Hi Rick,

looking at this photo I would say that the engine cowl fit on your model is pretty much in-line with the reality. Well, it is an S.E.5, not S.E.5a, but nevermind.

Great job all around so far, sir!

Cheers.

Des, Ernie, Terri, Bud, Ondra, Patrick, and Martin,

Thank you all for your comments. They are greatly appreciated! As for the cowl fit I personally think I could have done a little better although the small wedge shaped things do line up with the holes. I will emphasize that I am not sure if I did something wrong in building the engine thus causing me to have to re-locate the way it is installed. using the kit mounts my engine sat too high and would not allow the cowl panels to fit at all. So anyone building this kit at least knows to be careful with the engine and do a lot of test fitting.

Hi Rick:

Outstanding work to date.  Thanks for the heads up on the engine fit as well.  I have this and am thinking of doing it in Mannocks aircraft.
Looking forward to seeing you button it up.

Best

you may have mentioned this but have you ever built the wnw version? i dont recall although for some reson as i type something makes me think i remember you doing "schweinhund" so perhaps you did another roden kit. my point i was wondering how you felt this encore with bells and whistles stacked up against the wnw kit. i am sure it take more work. but i really like how the resin pulley assy's look on the encore as compared to the wnw etc. just interested in your opinions.
