I believe the tool you are referring to is what is known as a 'pouncing wheel.' Intended use is for transferring paper designs to other materials by 'pouncing' through the paper.

Anyway, nice work, Rick :)

Thanks for the reminder and photo Bo! I had actually remembered the "Pounce" part a little while ago  ;D

Terrific work on the rib tapes, Rick!  As you and Bud mentioned,
tedious work, but the result is so good! As for Patrick and my
present project, I am bound by the official secrets act...mon ami. ;) ;D
As always, I'm looking forward to your next update, Rick. :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks Ernie. I am looking forward to whatever you and Patrick are up to  8)

To elaborate on what Bo has said: The "pouncing" refers to a small bag of usually white powder in a small porous cotton bag which is pounced, or pounded through small holes punched in a drawing attached to a panel, wall, or ceiling in order to transfer an image before painting. A pounce wheel is the tool used to make the holes. The original drawing is referred to as a "cartoon" and is the method Michaelangelo and his peers used to transfer their sketches to their final place to be painted. The modern use of the word "cartoon" comes from these rough sketches. Sorry for the history lesson. I studied painting and illustration, and now work in animation. I find it interesting how our modern terms evolved, even if we've now strayed well beyond their intended use. I'm sure Michaelangelo never envisioned using his tools to create rivets on model airplanes. ;D

Now back to modeling... Sorry for going off on my tangent. :o ;D

I finally found mine, the After Market Model Tool versions are called, shockingly, "Riveting Tools", at least by RB Productions. They come in various "counts" and I've used one of them to do the Rivets on the Roden DR.1 cowling.

Another small update. I have put down the initial coat of PC 10. I plan to do some oversprays with various brownish greens to break up the monotone look.

Nice to see some covering paint on it Rick.  Is that a
solid colour or a mixture?  The rib tape nails show up
pretty well. :D  Nice update my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)
