Sopwith Camel, Eduard, 1:48 – with some value added
« on: January 03, 2015, 06:32:56 AM »
Hi,
Since I started to work on camel I had not realized to open any thread. There were and will be so many of them  concerning that particular ww1 plane, but Lukasz (TaurusModels) changed this feeling once sent me Clerget engine as an unexpected bonus within purchase. Once again thanks Lukasz!
Now I feel I have to share with your tiny masterpiece!

But first a little fuselage work with Eduard PE parts for that plane

Frankly speaking I am somewhere in the middle of work on rotary engine

Little comparison with Eduard proposal..

You have made a great start with this build, it is always a pleasure to see a Camel being built. The instrument panel and seat turned out really well and they look great sitting in the cockpit, the engine is shaping up very nice.

Hello,

Little up: work on the engine done!
I you can see on previous photos, the Taurus engin is little bigger that Eduard, which means little work in cowling is a must. Now I know that it barely fits.

What an impressive start! I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress on this one, K, as I have a Camel partly under construction and just waiting on completion of the D.VII.

Best wishes
Nigel

Thank you all!

Next step: little masking action done on the wings parts.
The idea was to unveil the ribs and then implement the final colour layer – gently with diluted paint. If needed some post shading should be done as well. See what happens..

I do not make clerget. It's Vector that I bought some time ago, and by mistake got two pieces in one bag :). I though, that it would be nice to see a good model of camel. Krzysiek is able!

Brilliant start, K!  That engine is gorgeous and will really add a lot to the overall look of the finished model.
Cheers,

Your Camel really looks terrific buttoned up and primed! Lovely Honey Tone on the wood panels on the fuselage.
