I think it looks great Terri, I've never had any luck trying to brush paint Tamiya paints. What did you thin the red brown with for the wood grain effect?

Terri,
Sorry but I seemed to have missed this update. Your wood grain and cockpit are AWESOME!

Thanks guys ! I'm working on the side framing . Kit parts don't fit so this needs to be scratched and the lower part of the instrument panel interferes with this and I still need to paint the framing on the fuselage sides .

Warren , I will either use Tamiya X-20 thinner or their lacquer thinner . When ever I brush paint Tamiya paints I always dip the brush in thinner first . Really never had to many troubles with their brands .

Thanks Terri, I'll try their thinner next time. I guess I'm just too old school and remember dipping my brush in the paint itself with no problems. As a friend of mine put it once, Tamiya paint doesn't like itself.

Really nice work on the wooden parts, Terri.  Like
Warren, I have not had much luck with the Tamiya
paints, but will try your method.  Thanks for the tip. :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks guy's ! ;D

Warren , Ernie . For about 6 years now I have been using Tamiya paints and other products and had to adapt to their behavior .
I used to use Testors Model Master paints but it is getting harder to find . Most shops now carry acrylic paints . I don't thin them either with water . I find that when spraying I don't get good atomization of the paint and will have some what a surface with a ruff texture .

Their lacquer thinner works very well with the acrylic line and you get a really fine smooth finish either brush or airbrush . Work with them and see what works best for you . They aren't every one favorite .

Progress report star date 1245.56.98.7

Holidays are a great way to spend it in front of the bench and computer ! I ended up looking online to see if I can find the profile for I don't recall the tail numbers and I didn't make a note of this . I did however found some wonderful pic's of this type ending in a few more details to be added . So much for out of the box !

The framework is not correct at the front of the cockpit , since this won't be seen I'm not worried about it . Rudder bar as toe straps and control cables . Throddle I made using plastic bits and PE from the parts pin . Hand pump was fashioned out of plastic rods as well as the control rods for the upper wing controls . Frame was relaced , kit parts don't fit and are over scaled . Trigger cables for the guns and that is it for the details .

Guns are also ready for their weathering once the paint has fully dried .

Thank-you Des and Rick for the kind comments .  8)

Todays goal will be getting the fuselage button up and start the weathering on the engine and do some more work on my spitfire .
