Amodel 1/32 Nieuport 16c
« on: December 02, 2014, 11:07:11 PM »
Hello everybody,

During the works on the Nieuport 11 “Bébé” and when the progress was a bit low and slow, in the meantime I began the build of the Nieuport 16. I have choosen the scheme as on the box, without many modifications, except for the addition of some instruments.
The kit is quite detailed, markings for the strut placement, pre-drilled holes in the upper  & lower wings (even for the eye-lets), but these holes proved totally wrong in the upper wing. The closing of the fuselage was quite a tough business and I had to sand, cut and saw parts of the cockpit parts, so that the closing would fit. Not enough space for the engine in the cowling too. That set aside, it was a good kit and a pleasant build.
As the build log of the Nieuport Bébé has been posted a few days ago and the Nieuport 16 is quite a similar aircraft, I will leave it to the photos of the completed model. This was my 4th non-WnW build in a row, so it is high time for a change to a build where everything fits like a glove.

Thank you for passing by
Patrick

The pilot of the aircraft was André Chainant (that is what the box says), but probably it was  André Chainat. Here is a link for more information :

Lovely Nieuport! Thanks for the build notes too. I had wondered about this kit.

Simply gorgeous, Patrick!  You disappear for months then you show up with not one, but TWO absolutely brilliant Nieuports in tow!  Fantastic job on both, buddy.
Cheers,
Bud

Hello Bud,

Thank you my friend for the wonderful comments. I don't think it is a coïncidence that so many Nieuports are build these last few months. It shows that there might be a little more interest from the kit designers for the French aircrafts too. All the allies flew them too. But it shows too that there are kits who are worthwhile to be build even not being WnW. I am desperately waiting though for some French aircrafts by WnW. I am honoured by your comments my friend.

Kind regards
Patrick

Merci Jean,

Well I am a rookie too Jean, I only started last year. So that means that despite all the flaws  in my builds one can at least put a model on wheels  ;D Thank you for the positive comments. Much appreciated!

Kind regards
Patrick

I imagine you are sick of my babbling about your Nieuports, Patrick, my friend,
but I would be remiss if I didn't say how much I like this little gem!  Keep this
up and you will be known as "Mr. Nieuport"! Well done, Patrick, and keep 'em coming! :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

This is a delightful and delicate little bird and you have amade a real masterpiece of it.

I agree with you Patrick...not enough attention is being spent on the French aircraft and they are certainly among the most beautiful.

I have really enjoyed both of your Nieuport builds.

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

Hello Ernie and Michael,

Michael : thank you for your kind words about the model. I am glad that you like the French aircraft too in general. They are worth it! Thank you my friend

Ernie:  I will never get tired hearing you talk about Nieuports my friend. Modeling has become even more enjoyable for me since I know you!

Kind regards
Patrick

What a wonderful model. Superb finish despite the problems you mention. You call yourself a rookie when it comes to modelling - if so what are your models going to be like when you are more experienced? I cannot see how you could improve greatly on this.

Congratulations Patrick on presenting us with another of your brilliant builds, you have done a superb job with this Nieuport and even though you had a few difficulties with building the kit it doesn't show at all in the excellent completed model, well done Patrick.
