starting WNW FE-2b early
« on: November 30, 2014, 05:32:30 PM »
Finaly,
today I am starting to build the FE-2B from WNW as an tribute to  my passed friend.
It will be big challenge  because it is the first WW1 kit for decades to be build by me.
But also I want to add every Buckle and other details that are around so that I present the finished model to his widow.
I will try to place some photo's from time to time(if I can figure out how)
I would like to know if there is a site where I can detailed info about the FE-2B esepecialy about the placement of the buckles etc.
I can use any help as a rookie in this field.
I know that this kit is not the easiest with all that  rigging etc so I hope that I will be succesful.
 :)

Hi Robvd
I have taken many photos of the two FE2b aeroplanes from The Vintage Aviator Ltd. Here are links to my albums over at Photobucket which might be helpful to you

I second that!  James' shared resources are great especially for engine detailing.  You can also try TVAL themselves, again they thankfully post much of their project work online.

Also, a search on here for Fe2b will bring up various build logs.

This kit makes a stunning model.  It looks daunting with all that rigging, very open cockpit and structure, engine etc - however taken in stages it is not as hard as first looks.  The wing rigging, is relatively simple to do - just loads of it and care needs to be taken to get the lines all in the right place.

With the AM detailing you are planning to do, this is one build I will look to follow!

Robvd, I think that will be a lovely tribute to your friend.  Thankfully
there is enough information available to help you along.  I wish you
well in your build, and if you are to share it here, it will be a good one to
follow!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Watching a Fee coming together is always a joy and knowing the reason behind this project of yours makes it all the more so.  We're here to cheer you on, Rob.  There is no better source on WWI aircraft detail than Jamo's photos.  Make good use of them.  I know I will when I get around to building my Fee.  Thanks, James!
Cheers,
Bud

Hi Rob,

did you see this one here? Might be of help for your build, too.
http://www.windsockdatafilespecials.co.uk/the-fe2b-flies-again-278-p.asp
There have been more datafiles around (e.g. see here: http://web.ipmsusa3.org/content/raf-fe-2b-war-windsock-datafile-147), a quick research on the Internet will bring them all up..

Best regards, Richard

Hi Robvd

I've just finished the late version of this kit and it's fabulous. Lots of work, but no real 'gotchas' - follow the instructions (and use plenty of references - James' photos are wonderful), and you'll have no real probs.  cheers Brad
