Pfalz Pfinished - WNW 1/32 Rudolf Stark
« on: November 04, 2014, 11:32:38 AM »
Wrapped this up tonight. Not really satisfied with the final result but ah-well. I have not done much weathering of my models but I tried it here as the grey scheme seemed really flat. Used Tamiya weathering sets and oil pin washes - again not really sure if I am happy with the result. The WNW kit though is really brilliant - maybe the best kit I have built. Had practically no issues with assembly other than getting the fuse halves closed took some effort.

Used master barrels, Gaspatch turnbuckles, RB motion spark plugs and Modelkasten rigging line (my new favorite), and the HGW seat harness.

Photos also need work - it looks super glossy in pics but is flat coated - got a terrible glare from my lights. I might try to take some better pics tomorrow.

Looks fantastic to me, Petrov! ;D.  This is a simple, yet elegant, scheme.  I think you weathering and the lilac highlights are spot on.  The overall impression is just beautiful.

I agree--the WNW Pfalz is a wonderful kit.  You have made it even better! ;D

Cheers and huzzas,

Bob

Well, hell, Petrov!  I don't see ANYTHING wrong with it.  In fact, I think it's absolutely stunning and I would be thrilled if mine turned out so well.  Congratulations on a job truly well done.
Cheers,
Bud

I'm with Bud, word for word. I think the whole result is super....and I'm damn picky. In fact, I'd say it is actually quite elegant looking. I think any more weathering would have been a detraction. There's something about the white and lilac that just makes it seem...well, as I said, elegant. Seems like the sort of mount that would have been kept really clean.

Bravo!

I look forward to your next build!

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

Petrov, if I ended up with the result you have I would be thrilled! I can only
describe your efforts as sublime.  The Rudolf Stark colour scheme is gorgeous!

Ernie :)

As with everyone before me, I really like what you've done Petrov and can only aspire to building something as fine as what you've created.

If you don't mind, I have a few queries about the modelkasten rigging line. Is it more difficult to thread back through tubing than monofilament? I've read somewhere it has a bit of stretch to it, is that right? What colour does does the rigging come in? Finally, did you use the 0.2mm or 0.13mm line in your model?

Thanks

I agree with the above. Every one of us has our own take on weathering and finish. A beautiful build of a gorgeous kit.

As we all know we are our own worst critic too.  ;)
