Thanks!  I'm pretty much committed to 1/48; it's a nice balance between being able show enough detail and not taking up too much room on the shelf.

Excellent batch and truly beautiful models. Since i'm also currently building Udet's black D-Va, I was wondering if you had information about the chevrons on the upper wing rather than simple white stripes? Their front end is visible on the pic of this plane after its crash landing, but that doesn't tell whether it was stripes or chevrons.  And despite I have collected four more pics of that bird, none shows this clearly.

Thanks again!

Vincent, there's no photo that shows what the top wing on the D.Va looked like. Although it's usually been shown as stripes,  Wingnut Wings suggest it could have been chevrons and in the photo of the machine crashed and upside down, it does appear that perhaps there's a slight widening toward the top of the wing from the front. I went with chevrons because that was Udet's personal marking and they are on this machine on the front fuselage.

Fantastic stuff Drew, I missed the scale in the title and I thought these were 1/32!

4476/17 is my favourite I think - forgive me if I've missed it, did you paint the plywood fuse or use decals? It looks fantastic.

Thanks, Martin and Zac!

Zac, I painted the fuselage, oils over a tan base.

Thanks for the information Drew.

yes that sounds logical, when there is no such reason for stripes. Anyway it's not that important on my own model since it will be shown upside down as on the crash pics. But if you had had positive info about chevrons, I would've chosen this option.

That's going to make a terrific diorama!
The other possibility is that the stripes angle outward, creating one chevron on the wing.  That was done on other machines, though not Udet's.

Thanks. The main idea is to give a sight to the lowerside lozenges, which in my opinion are the most beautiful. Considering the position of the aircraft, I'm not sure if the upperwing's trailing edge will be visible, in fact I hope not.

Among the pics I have of Udet's black D-Va, I don't often watch this one since it is blurry and doesn't show many details. But taking again a look at it, I noticed that the upperwing stripes actually seem to be angled, but the point of the chevron would rather be at the rear end.

To me it looks as though the bands get wider on both sides going toward the top of the wing.  This would make these the forward points of two chevrons, as Wingnut Wings show as an alternate.  It is very hard to tell, though.

...and couldn't it be the same kind of "U" as under the left lower wing?? If you take a look at that U, the top of both branches are slightly wider and rounded, and it would probably look like what you can see on the pic I've posted.

Hmmmm, that would be a pretty wide U!  I think the most likely markings are two chevrons, or two stripes that angle outward from the leading edge.
