Those of you who have been modelling WWI aircraft for a while will remember the decal manufacturer Americal Gryphon. Dr Glen Merrill was the principal and his thorough research was evident in all the many decal releases. Each set come with a detailed reference booklet. They weren't easy to deal with, particularly for overseas customers. No website, no paypal, no credit cards, no email, but excellent service by snail mail. Unfortunately Americal Gryphon closed back in December 2006.

One of the decals I purchased was a 1/72 set of German propeller logos. It was an A4 sized sheet packed with 50 different intsy little logos, several hundred in total (if you want some for a specific project send me a PM). The decal quality was very good, the instruction booklet was superb. I would like to share the instruction booklet with you all, however it is copyrighted to Americal Gryphon so maybe I shouldn't do this? If I am in the wrong here I will pull these images:

Pages 7 & 8 were a table showing all the propeller manufacturers cross referenced against all the aircraft types. The type is very small. I will recreate it in excel and post an image soon

Integral
Over at Woodenpropeller.com Don Gardner wrote: "I have been describing Integral decals in my book on German props and I have come to the following conclusion. The orginal Integrale decal was international and used by the companies in France, Germany and Britain. This is indicated by the 'patent' marks it carries for each country. Below is a restored example;

Once the British and German companies became independant, they removed the C for Chauviere. A British example is below. The German example appears to be identical, except for the lettering."

Thanks for reminding me about that Bo. Here is the table (after being re-keyed into a spreadsheet for improved legibility). Click on the image to see full size.

"The table attempts to relate propeller types with specific aircraft types with which they were used. It should not be construed that either 1) this was the total range of aircraft for which particular type of propeller was used or 2) that every propeller type used for a particular aircraft is listed. There are certainly omissions of both kinds. What is given, however, is the range of of combinations that can presently be documented. No doubt others will emerge just as additional logos will come to light in the future. This is a fairly large part of the variation and a sufficient starting place."

It should read in conjunction with the notes above.

Hallo everybody,
some time ago (maybe on the "other" forum) I had a mail exchange with someone about propellers logos to use as self printed decals.
I was drawing the AXIAL logo but I had a crash on my PC and lost both the workfiles and the contacts (mails and messages) so I left that job behind my back.

Recently I found some time to start vectorial drawing again (namely Baracca's horse and Gryphon) and made myself avector copy of the axial propeller logo.

I am pleased to share it with you on this forum and please consider it free for modeling use but not for commercial purposes of course.

DOWNLOAD THE SVG FILE CLICKING HERE

I hope it will be useful!

Ciao

Antonio

PS @Admins: should this thread not be the right one to post this kind of messages please move it wherever you think it fits better ...

Thanks for posting these Jamo, I seriously doubt Dr. Merrill will show up here and cause you any trouble. I was very saddened to see him close up shop, but I completely understand why he did. A-G decals was a labor of love for him, something he did in his spare time as a result of his WWI aviation passion. Sadly, real life events caught up with him, and forced the closure.
