« on: September 25, 2014, 10:27:49 AM »
I know that I posted these old/off topic builds elsewhere but don't think I have done so here. This is the continuation of my "Theme" building. Jadgeschwader Richthofen Bf 109E-4 Helmut Wick: 1/32nd Eduard kit. More to come eventually  8)

Thanks Mark. I have a plan to ultimately have representative models from WW1 through the Jet age from Germany, "Richthofen" Gesschwaders, 43,56,and 19 Squadron RFC/RAF, Lafayettte Escadrille, 27th and 94th AEF/USAF, and he Storks.

Beautiful 109, Rick!  What's your secret on the amazing mottling?
Was that all done with the airbrush, or combined with something else?
Great start to the collection, my friend! :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Very nice 109's Rick and your theme build is a really cool idea.

I'm piling on here as well.

Cheers,

You can have it good; You can have it fast; you can have it cheap. Pick any two, but all three are impossible.

Thanks Ed, Ernie and Chris! I appreciate you looking in.
Ernie and Chris,
The answer to your question on Wicks aircraft I simply used thinned polyscale and a small brush to hand paint the Mottle. I then used polishing cloth, between 8000 and 12000 grit, to smooth the finish. The freshly overpainted area is airbrushed as was the original.
The second 109 Jabo, is airbrushed Mottle using Xtra Color Enamels.
