US source of Misterkit Albatros Mauve?
« on: September 06, 2014, 01:29:47 AM »
I also posted this over on Hyperscale here: http://www.network54.com/Forum/409167/message/1409930138/US+source+of+Misterkit+Albatros+Mauve-)

Rollmodels doesn't seem to offer this color. Any other stores in the USA carry it, or is it basically them or straight to the source in Italy?

Alternately, if someone in the 'states has a half-full or so bottle they could spare wouldn't mind selling me, please let me know, I'm happy to buy it off you. Thanks!

James,
I E Mailed Michael a week or two ago. Basically said he hadn't restocked and I should try Misterkit directly from Italy. Seems like an opportunity here for a growing US On Line shop  8)

I had the same experience as you, alas, and I agree. It'd be nice if there were a US source for these paints. Easier to make impulse buys that way, too.

Thanks for the information, Rick. If you ordered from Italy, can they ship it to the U.S.? I've never ordered paint online so I'm not familiar with the laws regarding shipping paint.

guys -
i have ordered from them with great success. there's no worry about shipping here to the US (i'm in Florida) since they are acrylics, and there is no minimum to order.
definitely give them a try.  :)

Thanks Terry. I have never ordered paint online before and didn't know if there were some kind of laws shipping to the U.S. I live in Texas. How are Misterkit paints?

so far, i think they are easier to spray than Tamiya, which i started out with, and seem to be able to be stored for quite a while and quickly come back to life. i like their colors and coverage, but i'm still learning from everyone here though, so someone may be able to compare them to other paints

What about hand brushing? Do they work well with a brush?

They can be used with a brush, as they're rather thick when unthinned, but I'm not impressed with their coverage used in this manner. Have you ever used Lifecolor paints? They perform quite similarly.

If you are just looking for a recommended paint to brush with, I haven't found anything better (or as good for that matter) as Valleho paints. I've only used Model Air, but don't see why their other lines wouldn't work the same. Bocoo colors too!
